The reports on the Canadian version of ELCA omitted one significant detail - the denomination destroyed itself over gay advocacy, just as ELCA and The Episcopal Church have. ELCA- eh? (aka ELCiC) is different in having relatively few members and less money. Like the ELS and WELS, ELCiCs want to pose as a great, global denomination when they are not.
The smaller the sect, the more the leaders jump on their jets and tour "world missions," a tax-free vacation paid by the members.
For some reason, denominations like to elect people with as little pastoral experience as possible - especially administrators. That is the fast track to the episcopacy. I used to wonder why they put doctors through such long shifts when they were interns and residents. One doctor explained that nothing in medical school compared to following patients over 24 hours and seeing how they responded to treatment.
The current leaders are Biblical. They are as wise as doves, as innocent as serpents.
WELS, Missouri, the Little Sect on the Prairie, and the micro-minis are surprisingly alike.
- They work together with ELCA but pretend they are Scriptural and Confessional.
- They oppose the Scriptures and the Book of Concord.
- They loathe the central doctrine of justification by faith while teaching the universal absolution of unbelievers (UOJ) as the Chief Article of Christianity, the Master and Prince.
The more they publish on their favorite dogma, the more ridiculous they look, like Leftists using the Constitution to prove the Constitution wrong on every point.
The SynCons (LCMS-ELS-WELS) are far more radical than people realize, because the SynCon foundations are not the Word of God and the Book of Concord, but the hybrid philosophy of Halle University. Two characteristics give the SynCons away. One is their constant pretense of not being Pietists (because they smoke and drink?) while supporting cell groups. The other characteristic is their claim of Lutheran orthodoxy while spurning the entire Age of Lutheran Orthodoxy to quote their faves - Walther-Stephan, George Barna, and Ed Stetzer.
KJV Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
The "conservative" Lutheran leaders cover up clergy murder, rape, sodomy, and child abuse because repentance and help for the victims would cost the synods their public image and millions of dollars. Many are wise to them, so they quietly slip away.
