The False Teachers Condemn Themselves

The Mark and Avoid Jeske gathering, Men of His Word, warned people against wolves!
The wolves would be...Lutherans?

Brett Meyer has left a new comment on your post "Some Thoughts about Minimizing the Means of Grace":

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

This verse speaks volumns about the resistance most in the Lutheran Synod's administrations and clergy have concerning one Justification solely By Faith Alone.

The false gospel of UOJ, which violently dethrones Christ as the object of faith and replaces Him with their forgiveness and righteousness, is the root of all of this evil in the Synods.

Standing on the doctrine of UOJ they forgive the adulterers, murderers, pedophiles and adulterous murdering pedophiles who do not repent. And on that same doctrine they condemn, excommunicate and bludgeon those who teach Christ's pure doctrine - rightly dividing the God's Law and Gospel.

Consider this verse the next time you see false teaching and practice coming from the Lutheran Synods.

And these too:

Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Some Thoughts about Minimizing the Means of Grace

Flogging will continue until morale improves.

Pastor Rydecki states, “To assert that God did or declared something is a big deal, and one had better be able to support such a claim with clear passages of Scripture.”

To be fair, in his keynote 2005 WELS Convention essay, Justification Expounded By Scripture, District President Pastor Jon Buchholz did make the effort following three doctrinal declarations to clarify that Scripture, in fact, didn’t teach what he was teaching:

"God has forgiven the whole world. God has forgiven everyone his sins." This statement is absolutely true! This is the heart of the gospel, and it must be preached and taught as the foundation of our faith. But here’s where the caveat comes in: In Scripture, the word "forgive" is used almost exclusively in a personal, not a universal sense. The Bible doesn’t make the statement, "God has forgiven the world."

"God has forgiven all sins, but the unbeliever rejects God’s forgiveness." Again, this statement is true—and Luther employed similar terminology to press the point of Christ’s completed work of salvation.16 But we must also recognize that Scripture doesn’t speak this way."

"God has declared the entire world righteous." This statement is true, as we understand it to mean that God has rendered a verdict of "not-guilty" toward the entire world. It is also true—and must be taught—that the righteousness of Christ now stands in place of the world’s sin; this is the whole point of what Jesus did for us at Calvary. However, once again we’re wresting a term out of its usual context. In Scripture the term "righteous" usually refers to believers. "

Some say this controversy is "just" about semantics. Okay. Semantics are important. The way we form word relationships communicates truth.

I am still processing all this information. But I can imagine the danger of telling an unbelieving visitor in the congregation that he is forgiven and saved before the Holy Spirit has created any faith. The unbeliever is lulled into a false sense of security. He feels comforted, but in reality he is still blind and lost. This danger is particularly highlighted when one considers the trend for churches to minimize the means of grace in order to attract the unbeliever in the first place.
If the sermon is mostly law, and the praise songs are pale reflections of God's Word, while the gospel rich liturgy is mostly missing, how can the Holy Spirit create the faith that justifies?

Well stated Shelley, especially your last two sentences. I hope very COP member, MLC professor, and "others" take note of your comment. God's blessings.

Time for a WELS Gutachten

Daryl Meyer has left a new comment on your post "Ecclesia Augustana: WELS to Porth: Tear Down Your ...":

Protes'tant 2.0--except now folks are booted for practicing 'blog fellowship'. I wonder how much longer before the Sem faculty weighs in with another Gutachten. (You know it's ominous when it involves the Sem and the abbreviation GA.) On the bright side, there are also now dozens of Mielkes, and you don't have to pay for a subscription to Faith-Life to stay informed.

WELS - "Our Great Heritage" - Bullying for Over a Century

"You are not going to bully me, you big fat coward."

Legalistic coercion of students has been a long-standing practice for Jeffrey Schone so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

My great-grandfather, Rev. Christopher Heidenreich, a German immigrant, was ordained in the Michigan Synod in 1895. In 1909, he was vice-president of the Michigan Synod, which was in fellowship with Wisconsin and ultimately swallowed up by them. In 1909, Wisconsin was in the process of trying to close the Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw. This was seen as a heavy-handed approach by Wisconsin to gain more control over the Michigan Synod. My great-grandfather met with Francis Pieper in 1909 in Detroit. Pieper was the president of the LCMS at that time. This one meeting, considered in a very negative light by the leadership of Wisconsin, led to his being immediately removed from fellowship with Wisconsin and as V.P. of Michigan. He and my congregation (which he served for 50 years) were then independent for 15 years, finally joining the Missouri Synod ...and most of lower Michigan followed suit, explaining at least in part why lower Michigan is mostly LCMS.

GJ - This blog helps people to see that they are not alone in being bullied and abused by WELS. Every time someone questions Holy Mother WELS, whack!

Who put a Fuller Seminary D.Min. in charge of "lay ministry," so WELS could develop a list of women? Martin Luther College.

A long list could follow, including identical behavior in the toxic CLC (sic).

Bullying in a church body shows that their infallible leaders are unbelievers. They are pretty stupid, too. Buchholz and Shone have turned local issues into national discussions simply because they thought they were still in GA - the secret WELS hazing ritual at Mequon.
