I wouldn't mind Turkson taking the Chair of Peter. I had hoped for Arinze the last time around, but I was happy with the man selected.
Also, while there is much talk about Cardinal Dolan, the one American who is a tangible papabile is Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura (equivalent to Chief Justice). He understands how the Vatican bureaucracy works (such as it does), and his Italian is flawless. The last point is important, as the Pope is also the bishop of a particular diocese.
