The Formula of Concord - I Took My Print Edition to the Oncology Group

The Formula of Concord, edited by Henry Eyster Jacobs, Online Edition.
The print edition of the Formula of Concord is linked here.

Readers, note. Objective Justification is not in the Bible, the Book of Concord, or Luther's works. Nor are any synods found in the Book of Concord. One group is, though - Churches of the Augsburg Confession.

Those who believe, teach, and confess the Augsburg Confession (not the Walther Omnia Opera) are "theologians of the Augsburg Confession." Our little congregation properly belongs to the Church of the Augsburg Confession, identifying the Calvinist and Romanist errors promoted by ELCA-WELS-ELS-LCMS.

Solid Declaration, Formula of Concord, Book of Concord,

This pure reformation, however, has been regarded by its opponents as introducing new doctrine; it has been violently and falsely charged with being directly contrary to God’s Word and Christian ordinances, and has to bear the burden of numberless other calumnies and accusations. (p. 81)

GJ - Zwingli, then Calvin, pretended to be Lutheran and associate with the Reformation. However, it soon appeared (Zwingli, Marburg Colloquy; Calvin, in Against Westfal) that the Swiss leaders were opposed to the Reformation and injected their rationalistic, anti-Means of Grace attitudes into every issue. In short, they declared a doctrinal war against the Lutheran Reformation while pretending for a time to belong to that movement. In doing so, they constantly violated the plain, simple truths of the Bible.

One way to learn about the Book of Concord - or to relearn its truths - is to take a portable copy along when long waits are expected. I took my Alec Satin edition of the Formula to read at the oncology group. I noticed, once again, that the brilliant article on Election warns against the tactic Walther employed to break up the Synodical Conference and keep the parts obedient to his Calvinistic leanings.

No one with a modest knowledge about the article on the Righteousness of Faith would dare to promote the post-Concord, Pietistic and rationalistic poison of Objective Justification. Their constant jabbering about OJ is proof of their ignorance of this article, Genesis 15:6, Romans, Galatians, and the Reformation.

Walther's toadies have proven his inadequacies as they run out of excuses for their Calvinistic errors:

  1. Why do they run to Fuller Seminary for their precious D.Min. degrees?
  2. Why do they mistrust the Word in the liturgy, Creed, hymns, and sermons?
  3. Whey do talk only about institutional health while feeding people with toxins, viruses, and regurgitated pablum?
  4. Why do they encourage fusses about minor matters while protecting the citadel of their errors - Walther?
  5. Why do their own leaders join Rome and Eastern Orthodoxy - or covet those churches - and leave like their idol who wrote Justification of the Sinner - Edward Preuss, a raving imbecile?
The sin-odds have betrayed their members, their clergy, their benighted students. One must become his own Harvard and Yale, studying the traditional Scriptures (King James), the works of Luther, and the Confessions. Take the one article they are fighting against and become an expert in that topic. Then:

  1. Insults will fly.
  2. Clergy will rush to change the subject.
  3. Friends-of-Calvin will wall you up in your own little Wartburg without walls.
  4. The Means of Grace will become essential.
  5. The modern translations paraphrases will become anathema.
  6. Friends will appear from various corners of the world to confirm the truths so despised by Obstinate, Worldly Wiseman, and Pliable.
This is the Rosetta Stone of the Book of Concord, especially the Apology, but also the works of Luther, Melanchthon, Chemnitz, Gerhard, yea even the General Council. This is the dynamite that is blowing up Walther's errors.
