Was Paul Gerhardt Another Heretic - According to the UOJ Crowd?

Narrow-minded Lutheran has left a new comment on your post "UOJ Advocates Are Raging on Steadfast Lutherans":

I would ask the UOJ folks at Steadfast Waltherans to explain this, especially noting stanza five (yeah, I know you guys check this site out):

Apparently, the ever-faithful Paul Gerhardt, who suffered some terrible hardships and losses in his life, is a heretic. Perhaps McCain should earn his six-figure salary, because I listened to this hymn, "errant" stanza and all, on my CPH collection of hymns on CD today. He needs to edit this hymn, or get rid of it altogether.

Gerhardt, as I recall, lost all of his family, save one child. According to McCain's theology, it is a shame that one of the greatest hymn writers relied on his faith while living through the Thirty Years War and burying his wife and children.

He has a statue at LCMS headquarters,
a statue and mausoleum at the St. Louis cemetery,
and a third statue in Perryville, where he robbed Bishop Stephan
of his land, retirement funds, library, and clothing.
When Seminexers stole the Concordia Seminary books for their new school,
they were just following the Great Walther.

Ichabod -

Do you have a reasonable explanation why LCMS hasn't followed Penn State's example and torn down C.F. Walther's graven images? Could the Scripture apply in this case; the one where it says that, "The children of this world are wiser than the sons of light?"

GJ - Most people do not know the truth about Walther, even though 95% of it can be found in Zion on the Mississippi. Paul McCain especially went bonkers when the Stephan book came out. He engaged in his favorite personal attacks, all irrelevant. Too bad McCain never had a solid Lutheran education.
