Mark and Avoid Jeske Memorial
Explores the Outer Limits of Irony

Two memorials were proposed about Mark and Avoid Jeske. The discussion today ended with DP Buchholz supporting Jeske, the anonymous leader of Church and Change. Buchholz is supposedly the only DP in favor of reform.

My favorite moment arrived when DP Rutschow (on the far left of the bus) played the role of aggrieved Doctrinal Pussycat. He admitted, with some emotion, that his coven already approved of Jeske in this matter, cautioning everyone that the convention was no place to discuss doctrine.

DP Rutschow got rid of the mother church of WELS and its pastor--Hastings, Historic St. John in Milwaukee--over a minor incident that was quickly resolved with apologies made and damages paid. Rutschow went for scorched-earth revenge, and everyone lost out.

But when Mark Jeske is involved, and his false doctrine is well known, the motto is "Touch not the Lord's anointed!" - which applies to Jeske, the DP, all DPs, all officials, etc. etc.

I believe it was a delegate who cited the Eighth Commandment and the Fourth Commandment. Innocent readers, you need to know that Jeske's published false doctrine is beyond reproach. But even more importantly, it is a Fourth Commandment sin to question the Doctrinal Pussycats. God put them there, through electioneering and even with some fraudulent voting, but God works in a mysterious way His wonders to perform. To question the WELS officials is to question God.

The First Table is missing from the WELS Ten Commandments. So is the Sixth Commandment. Just remember the Fourth and Eighth. If there any questions, ask your CP or DP, but not in a way that will cause them to excommunicate you.

Everyone dodged the issues by talking vaguely about RSO status in the LCMS. The two sects are already engaged in a non-geographical merger with ELCA and the Little Sect on the Prairie.

A cat inside a fish! Ironic!

More irony from the WELS convention:
  1. The WELS convention addresses RSO status with another Lutheran group while ignoring that Jeske is the leader (with District VP Patterson) in studying/worshiping with all the worst false teachers in America.
  2. The intellectual leaders of WELS, whose IQs may reach three digits, argue for the NNIV, while trying to claim they care about the Word of God.
  3. Every issue should be discussed, but not at the convention. That should be done with the Doctrinal Pussycat and kept a secret.
  4. Christian Life Resources, after jettisoning the name WELS Lutherans for Life, because they broke with Missouri, needed some kind of resolution to preserve their family values PR spin, even though the pastoral director divorced his wife and married his sexretary.
  5. The WELS Militant did not officially reject the NNIV but only dithered about approving it at this point in time.
  6. Failing to confess the truth of the Gospel or to repudiate error, WELS congratulates itself on being "confessional" while routinely trashing the Book of Concord in favor of their Wauwatosa shrine.

Brett Meyer has left a new comment on your post "Mark and Avoid Jeske Memorial Explores the Outer L...":

Buchholz didn't rebuke Jeske for his false doctrine and practice? Do tell. Ineffective? Say no more.

DP Buchholz' 2005 UOJ essay promoting the false and abundantly contradictory gospel of Universal salvation was supremely effective.

In a world where teens are always looked at by the eyes of the Devil a WELS youth rally is a blessing it shows that even in this world where sin is everywhere there teens that still believe that we can help show to other people that Jesus saved all and that the Father loves all of his children.

Official Minutes - Overpaid Seminary Official Tells Official Lies

A Babtist--who denies infant faith, infant baptism, the efficacy of the Word, and the Real Presence--will lead you.

    From the official minutes:

Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary President Paul Wendland presented the report of the Translation Evaluation Committee. He introduced the members of the committee and explained the reason why the question of Bible translations is before the convention. He emphasized that the choice of a translation is not a doctrinal issue.

He asserted that a word-for-word translation is not possible from one language to another and that there is no perfect translation.

Three known reasons motivating the production of the New International Version 2011 (NIV11) were mentioned: Language changes, scholarship advances, and the mission of the Committee on Bible Translation (CBT), which demands that the translation utilize current and common language. Language has changed since the NIV84 was published. Wendland noted that every WELS congregation has the privilege of choosing the translation it wishes to use, but a translation decision is needed for Northwestern Publishing House. The Translation Evaluation Committee made the best use of the time available to them and did spend the most time working with the NIV2011. Gender inclusive language was a concern to the committee.

However the truth regarding male and female roles is clearly taught in NIV2011; it is not a feminist translation. Old Testament verses containing Messianic prophecy were carefully studied. Old Testament pronoun references to God are not capitalized, but that allows each reader to come to their own conclusions. Decision options available to the convention were outlined. In his closing remarks, President Wendland noted how humbling the work on this committee has been for him. He requested that although the matter is very emotional for many, the WELS be able to maintain the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace as translations are discussed. President Wendland was thanked for his presentation.

Did people laugh Wendland off the stage? Probably not. A translation is not doctrinal, but the Baptists always to after the sacramental passages and wipe them out. They turn the Great Commission, a Gospel admonition, into law - "Go make disciples."

Where is "communion with the body of Christ" in the NIV? Gone. Where is "baptism now saves you." Eliminated.

The classic NIV prepared WELS and Missouri to embrace the Church Growth Movement. The Ninevah - NNIV - will finish the job.

I remember when people scoffed at the Living Bible for inserting the author's own words into the text. Now the WELS Translation Commissars say that is the best way to translate.

Did Wendland mention the lesbian activist who helped with the classic NIV they love so much? I doubt it. Everyone must be overjoyed that the same philosophy will keep the NNIV from straying into political correctness.

    Litmus Test:
    Another Kind of Chemistry

Bethany could not talk, roll over, or crawl, but she understood everything.
Like many with neurological disorders, her biggest problems came
from the coarse and ignorant, not from her condition.

I was on Facebook with some friends from Moline, including my best friend from comic book collecting days. The loss of a child came up, so I mentioned our daughters, adding, "You would be surprised how many people have lost a child."

My friend, who once lived two blocks away from my home, added, "I lost my son when he was only 17." Until that moment, I did not know about his loss.

Tomorrow and August 2nd mark two birthdays, the first one for Erin Joy, the second for Bethany Joan Marie. Birthdays and Christmas, Mother's Day and Father's Day, make us pause and think even more about their great love for so many people. Bethany had a nurse who was disciplined for loving her so much. Erin had a large fan club, including groupies who bought special clothes and toys for her, just because they wanted to give back to her. Erin had a mountain of toys we gave to others as they accumulated, and the best dresses any girl could want.

When a child develops a major health problem, there is not much mental energy left for coarse and ignorant people who pretend to know something. They leave an indelible bad impression on many who will never say anything. Those who lost someone early are more inclined to mark and avoid rather than be reminded of similar loutish boors from the past. One nurse said to us, "When she eats solid food she will be fine." That would cure a lot of disorders, except foot-in-the-mouth disease.

A pediatrician said, "I wanted to see if she was spoiled." He had this little experiment. I asked, "Have you read her file from the Cleveland Clinic?" I wanted to say, "Did you go to medical school?"

Long ago we decided that people that blind are not going to respond to facts, research, or common sense. The doctor in question had to be ordered by a local judge to spend time with his errant daughter. When a judge had to issue orders to a parent with a medical degree, the dysfunction is obviously at high-tide.

That is why the "conservative" pastors shock me by parading even worse behavior for thousands to observe. They are not content to ruminate privately with their drinking buddies, but proclaim what they are for everyone to see. Doubtless they learned pastoral care from the Kidnapper and Mob Organizer, C. F. W. Walther. He wrote a book on that. Everyone should buy Walther's Pastoral Care for laughs. When the children he kidnapped from his father's parsonage died in America, far from their legal guardians, did C. F. W. send a letter of condolence or just say, "They wanted to be kidnapped"?

We know how much Walther cared about the troubles he caused for Bishop Stephan's son, because Walther tricked the young man out of 80 acres of farmland bought with the bishop's own money. They were not even the son's legal right to give away.

The Syn Conference leaders today model their behavior after Walther's. I wonder if Pope John the Malefactor even paused to consider what he was doing to families whose breadwinner only had a worthless MDiv from the Little Schoolhouse on the Prairie. Did getting rid of pastors and congregations breathe new life into the ELS? Luther said in his sermon for this Sunday, "Moses wanted people pious or dead."

That is why I believe the visible church leadership is comprised of non-believers who know how to go through the motions, the same way I can join the Ohio State cheers without meaning a word.

I took this photo of Erin Joy and developed the print in my darkroom.

Brett Meyer has left a new comment on your post "Identify the Author and His Job":

Taking a blind stab here -

    Author: Father Paul McCain
    Job: Heretic
Occasion: Preaching on the festival of St. Mary Magdalene as his mother, Jean McCain, was being called into the Pastoral Office by the Grace Lutheran Church in Leslie, MI. (LCMS).

    Favorite pastime: Persecuting the Faithful.

Favorite Memory: Father John Neuhaus who left the Lutheran Church, denied Justification by faith alone, and died in the arms and confession of the Antichrist.

"He opened several doors for me while I served The LCMS President, making it possible for LCMS leadership to make direct contact with the Vatican, when ELCA leaders were intent on cutting us out of formal conversation with Rome."

"I felt Richard John brought to the Romanism he embraced a hearty and full measure of the joyful Gospel rediscovery of Martin Luther, for which I am grateful."

One of McCain's former friends is editor Herman Otten.

    ***

GJ - Brett, you get an A for accuracy and a B for brevity. I was looked for: "Paul McCain. CPH Editor and spare room blogger."

McCain told SP Al Barry that Otten refused to meet with the LCMS leader. That was not true. Anyone who knows Otten realizes that he will meet with anyone. After all, Otten met with Kieschnick before the Texan became SP. Otten worked feverishly and secretly with McCain to get Barry elected.

I always wondered why Barry did not get in the staff limo and have his Iago drive him to New Haven, Missouri, 100 miles away. As Luther says in the sermon for this week (Lenker set), the world is ruled by rage and shunning. Barry embraced and mollified the Left in Missouri, but turned his back on the people who elected him.
