The False Comfort of UOJ Destroys Lives, Preaching, Congregations, Synods

Fuller Seminary graduate Rob Bell caught the spirit of Valleskey's
and Biven's favorite school.
The congregation he founded tossed him out,
and he went full throttle apostate in response.

The DemiPopes keep telling us there is no possible harm from sitting at the feet of heretics and spoiling the Egyptians. The Appleton pastors were just following Rob Bell and Andy Stanley and trying to expand the definition of marriage, if only for the night. "Don't worry, cutiepie. We're WELS pastors. We're already forgiven."

GJ - Sexual harassment is also encouraged by these blokes, thanks to the predatory teaching of Stanley and Bell.

An article in the classic ALC Encyclopedia of the Lutheran Church (3 vols) argued that Pietism ruined preaching, among other areas of damage from that movement.

I argue that the primary source of UOJ is Pietism. The present tense is appropriate because the Luther sects in America--from Muhlenberg onward--were all Pietistic and remain Pietistic today. That is their unifying principle, except for their loathing of Luther's doctrine.

Spener's Pietism is especially toxic in two areas:

  • The lay-led cell group is the real church, displacing the Means of Grace. The congregation is simply a place to organize the cell groups. The pastor does not have a preaching office, as Luther called it, but a CEO function, in managing the federation of cell groups.
  • Love is primary, while doctrine divides. Love Wins is an old theme, making any version of apostasy appealing and necessary.

Bruce Church opined that Stephan's syphilitic sex cult was God's plan to carry out the first cancer transplant, moving the sect out of Dresden, where they were not missed, to Mormon land in Perryville, Missouri, which kept the scandals away from the prying eyes of St. Louis residents.

By teaching people that everyone is forgiven, the ministers fall prey to their own false doctrine first. It is just the reverse of the minimal results being to save oneself and his audience.

KJV 1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

There is a lot of irony in that verse, because it does not assume mega-churches but instead - ministers making shipwrecks of their lives, as alcoholic adulterers have to admit when they end up forever alone with a bad liver, a paternity suit, and no family or friends.

Mequon and certain other fanatics (David Scaer) make sure that seminarians leave school with a complete rejection of the Gospel. The poor saps, who believe a poorly educated professor rather than Luther, apply the UOJ filter to everything and get it all wrong. They turn themselves and their families into unbelievers and spread the rot to the congregation. Jeff Gunn lectures WELS on how to do this.

Nothing is worse than a layman converted to UOJ, because their demonic dogma justifies every kind of nastiness.

I am still looking for that passage, Franzie.

The other day I was curious and I had a bit of a listen to some of the interviews at Issues Etc.

I heard a spot advertisement of the so called Steadfast Lutherans (sic) promoting their website and by analogy talk about their website akin to a pub.

Rightly these Steadfast Waltherians should be labelled Steadfast Antinomians.

Although no fan of Waldo Werning's Babtist and Church Growthy solutions to Missouri's problems, I once read his "Making the Missouri Synod Functional Again." I recall him quoting the joke that Fuller was Missouri's third seminary. Also shocking (at that time in my naivete) was to read of the politicking at The Surrendered Fort, as well as incidences of quietly sending pastors who divorced and remarried to another parish, usually far away.

Be it CG or the imitation of Rome/Constantinople, anything but Luther is what sells. Even the bells and smells camp refuses to address open Communion. I once asked a big shot at The Surrendered Fort why open Communion was not being addressed. His reply was, "It's up to the districts to discipline." In reality, the only time a district will discipline is when one has the audacity to disagree with it.

GJ - Fuller has more graduate students from the LCMS than the two official seminaries combined, so it is not a joke. As I recall, Larry Olson had cgasms bragging about that fact, which is probably true of WELS too.

Burning down the house.
