I will try the HDMI camera too, but not on Sunday, it has no audio to interfere, while the Logitech combines video and audio on one USB port. 

It took a long time for the computer to recognize either camera and get a signal through. Meanwhile, the audio was working. Finally, a window popped up (after many trials) and said, "Want the camera?" 

Higher Criticism Subordinates the Scriptures - Very Much Like the Dogmatics Books Do

Hauerwas. My sister-in-law babysat for his son. Augustana did not renew his initial contract and he joined Notre Dame, famous for his prodigious publishing.

I recall Stan Hauerwas saying in class, "Luther was an ad hoc theologian. He never wrote a dogmatics textbook." The modern theologians have their list of favorites and often become favorites themselves - if they write enough. Luther was wary of systematic theology, as they often call it. Aquinas ruled the Middle Ages with his enormous series of books in Latin - influenced by Aristotle, relying on Aristotle. Aquinas was like Karl Barth and his live-in mistress, Charlotte Kirschbaum, covering every possible topic and becoming a standard, a foundation for all thinking.

When Karl Barth toured America to lecture, he and Charlotte Kirschbaum shared the same bedroom and bed at the homes of their hosts.

According to the former president of the Karl Barth Society, most scholars think Charlotte wrote most of this dogmatics while Karl wrote the large print outline.

Hills had a splendid education, but he was denied a doctorate by the workings of Bruce Metzger. Still, he finished his PhD at Harvard. The academics ignored Hills' clear, sensible defense of the Majority Text.

Higher Criticism built itself on the foundation of its gleeful attacks against the Traditional, Majority text of the New Testament. The popular term for Higher Criticism was the Historical Critical Method. 

The Synodical Conference Lutherans - together again with the help of Thrivent loot and "free" flower calendars - emphasize that they believe in the inerrancy of the Scriptures. That is a nice thought, but not true. Using their favorite authorities, they subordinate the Scriptures to their dogmatic tyranny - Universal Forgiveness without Faith. They call it General Justification, Objective Justification, Universal Objective Justification, and the Justification of the World.

And lo! - the two forms of theological scholarship meet. The NIV, ESV, and RSV remove verses from the Bible, and reverse the actual wording. The classic is this corruption.

New NIV Romans 3:22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

 

KJV Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The New NIV has made Universal Justification a Biblical "truth" even though the Greek text and common sense reject the claim. The New NIV is so bad that it contradicts itself in that chapter.

The modern paraphrases also eliminate by faith of Jesus, which is the actual Greek text. The moderns do not accept the Two Natures in Christ - He was just a man in their eyes. Paul repeatedly uses by faith of Jesus, meaning that our salvation relies on Jesus' faith in God the Father. 

 Majority Text Romans 3:22 δικαιοσυνη δε θεου δια πιστεως ιησου χριστου εις παντας και επι παντας τους πιστευοντας ου γαρ εστιν διαστολη

The righteousness of God comes from the faith of Jesus, "unto all and upon all them that believe." The New NIV steals the double-all in the Greek text and the KJV to deceive people into thinking all sinners are forgiven, whether they believe in Christ or not. The clear meaning refers to all believers and only to all believers. That theft is just as pleasing for WELS-ELS-LCMS as it is for ELCA-Episcopal-UCC-Presbyterian. Why? Because they all share the same history of Pietism rotting into 57 flavors of Rationalism.
