Matthias Loy - Forgotten by ELCA - The Lutheran Library Publishing Ministry

The Great Escape from the Truth

Tischendorf is directly connected with promoting three sources: Ephraim, Sinaiticus, and Vaticanus. He used the Hebrew "A" or aleph to make his magical codex the first on the list. He rescued leather sheets from the fire and invented the Internet.

Sinaiticus is not the oldest but the newest, not the best but the worst.

This is not the actual codex (bound volume) but a version of what Tischendorf had printed.

Most of us have had the experience of explaining something obvious and hearing it rejected as utter folly, a big lie, or hilariously wrong. Now people video the event as it happens - dousing a grease fire with water, wearing fireworks and igniting them, walking among bison because they are so cute.

The denominations of America only had to do one thing to repudiate the Scriptures, with all the expected results. They did that without acknowledging the plan. And - let's face it - clergy leaders are rather dim and more focused on the finer things in life.

The various organizations did not say, "We are tossing the Apostolic witness of the New Testament in favor of the rationalists, apostates, and atheists." Instead, they claimed in unison, "There better, older, more accurate copies of the Greek New Testament, so we are using them."

Long before that, hardly any seminarian studied the Greek New Testament with an intense interest in the truth. Once upon a time, it took two years of college Greek to get into seminary. That requirement slipped to "summer Greek," a laughable event (like soccer camp confirmation) that let the boys and girls study Greek for six weeks or so, celebrating their Greek certificate at a campus fountain or local bar at the end.

One layman said, "Spend more time on Biblical footnotes and how deceiving they are." Here is the foundational bait and switch, which can be found in many different paraphrases, snip-and-clips, and best-ever-NTs: "Older and more accurate witnesses say..."

They bought it! The professors - not too good with Greek texts - liked it. The synod and denominations echoed the professors. The ministers repeated it, and Sunday School teachers accepted what the great and mighty endorsed.

In one post-WWII generation, the King James New Testament was replaced with the extreme Left's Revised Standard Version, an event marked by the denial of the Virgin Birth, Isaiah 7:10. "A young woman will..." proved - so they claimed - no Trinity, no Son of God, no Gospel. The RSV did not even bother with the Hebrew text, which was guarded by the Masoretic tradition of perfection.

The national response to denying the Virgin Birth was so powerful that the original was restored and "or - a young woman" was put in one of those trip-wire footnotes. But the RSV switched that again in the current version, with Virgin Birth in the text and "young woman" in the footnote. Even better, those pastors who would never carry an RSV are satisfied with the ESV, which comes from the same Marxist Calvinist National Council of Churches.

For additional laughs and grimaces - the Christian News Beck Bible follows the NCC line in many different ways.

Let us consider men leading the church. The so-called conservative churches held what Paul taught, that women were not to teach men or usurp authority over men. All the Lutheran synods taught that until Franklin C. Fry (LCA) died. The Southern Babtists taught the same until that began to disappear.

A young woman told her Southern Babtist pastor that she wanted to preach. He said, "Fine. You can do that next Sunday." So she did. The LCMS-WELS-ELS leaders are doing the same thing, cautiously moving toward a demi-semi-hemi feminist position.

The paraphrases follow, the extreme side avoiding male pronouns and feminizing the hymnals too - one of the goals of the awkward, foolish Tiefel tome called Christian Worship. The new one weighs as much as the LCMS Dogma-tanic.

Oldest and Best - A Prostitution of Scholarship

The "oldest and best sources" claim - beginning this circus with Tischendorf, Westcott, Hort, and the Vatican - fails to admit that Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are late frauds and not early witnesses!

That is all it took - to change the Bible by following the hyped-up claims of Tischendorf and the dark schemes of the Pope. The Vatican has always opposed the genuine text and message of the Bible in favor of ruling the world with their bishop hats and papal crowns. Sadly, the Church of Rome is allied with all the Protestant Bible organizations.
