What Did We Do Wrong?

WELS has strangled itself with the Kudzu Vine of Enthusiasm and the gangrene of Church Growth Principles.

What Did We Do Wrong?

We stuck with the KJV, which is ridiculed by the Fuller graduates.

We kept The Lutheran Hymnal.

We offered free broadcasts of a traditional service, from the spare room of a rented house.

We taught Justification by Faith, without mental reservation or purpose of evasion.

We were not ashamed of the Means of Grace and do not try to copy the Calvinists, especially the Lutheran Calvinists.

We trusted the efficacy of God's Word and rejected sugar-coating and entertainment.

We had no overpaid and overfed world mission executives, but we have a world mission.

We have not tried to appeal to demographic groups, but we have singles, widows, young parents, babies grandparents, and great-grandparent in our congregation.

We did everything wrong, according to the WELS Superstars of Church Growth, who shrank their sect faster than wool socks boiled in a pot.

We had no goals, apart from being faithful to the Word of God, so we saved a lot of money by avoiding Fuller, Willow Creek, Trinity Divinity, Exponential, the Dirt Conference, Granger, and the overpriced copy and paste publications of those centers of learning.

The Third Sunday in Advent, Historic Epistle Lesson

1 Corinthians 4 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

It Snowed! Colder Than a WELS Friendship Sunday

Sassy Sue and I took an early morning walk at about 7 AM. Before church started, snow was falling. I tossed some cookies outside, since the birdfood was eaten (three locations) by a squirrel.
