ELCA Has Determined That Jesus Is NOT the Only Way of Salvation,
But the Jeske Crime Family Moves On Anyway

WELS Discussions on Facebook

You may not like what's happening to our worship life and theology but you don't have a choice. You see, my friends, even our very own WELS pastors attend Change or Die and will be sitting at the feet of the apostate ELCA ministerium as well. It's clear they've "learned" from them in the past and have no qualms about doing so in the future.
Personally, I'm praying for an early death.

That's all this post is. Shouldn't the admins remove this? No one is discussing whether this is good or bad, what is good or bad, etc. Everyone is just bashing those who have organized this or who might attend. Why isn't this being removed?

    • Scott Kruz But I do get your point. Imagine if you agreed with this apostasy and all you wanted was to denigrate those who were making obvious what was happening by bringing it into the light? You would, of course, make baseless accusations of "bashing".

The Actual ELCA Report

”ELCA Churchwide Assembly rejects statement that Jesus is the only way of salvation
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America at its recent Churchwide Assembly adopted an inter-faith policy that asserts there are “limits of our knowing” the way to God the Father. One voting member challenged the apparent universalist language and called on his fellow Lutherans to affirm Jesus' statement of John 14:6 that He is the only way of salvation.
Here is the report of what happened from the Institute on Religion and Democracy:
As a large group of ecumenical and inter-religious guests stood on the assembly stage, Chair of the ad hoc inter-religious task force committee, Bishop Patricia J. Lull of the Saint Paul Area Synod, presented a hearing report to the assembly. She acknowledged a proposed recommendation called a section of the policy statement “inconsistent with Scripture.”
The amendment was submitted by voting member Zachary Johnson of the ELCA’s Northwestern Minnesota Synod. Johnson proposed lines 630-655, titled “Limits on our knowing,” from the policy statement be struck from the declaration. Those lines read:
"The Lutheran tradition offers other reasons for caution about our claims to know. Luther said that no human could know another person’s relationship with God. What that person says or does gives us clues, but, ultimately, we cannot see into someone else’s heart (Luther, Bondage of the Will). Similarly, Luther insisted that we cannot know the inner workings of God. God has revealed God’s attitude toward us, overall purpose, and character, but the inner workings of God remain hidden. Hence, we must be careful about claiming to know God’s judgments regarding another religion or the individual human beings who practice it.
And:
There is another reason for caution. As mentioned above, the Lutheran tradition has understood the word “faith” to mean trust rather than affirming beliefs. Hence, we also must be careful not to judge our neighbors only on the basis of their religious beliefs, as they may or may not tell us much about how our neighbors relate to God. There is no substitute for exploring together what matters most to others and to us. The full story of the relationship between our neighbor and God is beyond our knowledge, and even our calling. In the context of inter-religious relations, we do not need answers to these questions in order to treat one another with love and respect, find ways to cooperate for the sake of the larger community, practice hospitality, or witness to the good news of God’s love, forgiveness, and new life in Christ. All we know, and all we need to know, is that our neighbors are made in God’s image and that we are called to love and serve them."
Johnson’s challenge recalled Jesus’ words in John chapter 14 verse 6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
“We have a clear statement from Jesus, who is fully God and fully man,” Johnson’s proposed amendment read. “We do therefore have a basis to know God’s views on religions that do not require faith in Jesus Christ as God’s son.”
According to Lull, the concerns raised by Johnson were discussed by the ad hoc committee. The committee ultimately declined to forward the amendment to the assembly because, as Lull explained, the policy’s text “undergirds a posture of curiosity and humility” as the ELCA seeks to “learn from and engage” their inter-religious neighbors.
Undeterred, Johnson then made a motion to amend from the floor. “I am here to speak truth to power, even if it is an inconvenient truth,” Johnson said during his address of the motion. “I would urge this assembly to repudiate and repent of any false teachings.”
Pastor Jennifer Chrien (Southwest California Synod) spoke against the amendment, saying, “Frankly I am embarrassed that we are having this conversation right now in front of all of our inter-faith guests.”
She continued, “Our God is big enough for our family to include all of these interfaith siblings. Our God is big enough to admit that we do not know everything there is to know.”
Johnson’s motion to amend was overwhelmingly defeated. The policy statement was adopted with 97.48% voting in favor.
Video of Thursday evening’s plenary is available below. The controversy begins at about 1:19:20.
My comment: If the ELCA is no longer willing to say that Jesus is the only way of salvation, especially in front of invited guests from non-Christian religions who need Christ's saving Gospel, the ELCA is no longer a Lutheran denomination. The Lutheran Church has always taught that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9), by Christ alone (John 14:6, Acts 4:12).”

The Talmud uses the elephant in the same illustration to express human impossibility; elephants were not known in Palestine. The Koran has the illustration that Jesus used."

Apostasy Is Not Limited to the Lutherans.
American Spectator - "Where Bergoglio (Pope Francis) Buried His Communist Mentor"

Disgraced Milwaukee Archbishop and his priests gave a series of public lectures at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WELS). NY Times on Weakland.

My favorite Roman Catholic journalist, George Neumayr, published an essay on Pope Francis' affection for a Communist leader in his native Argentina - Where Bergoglio [Pope Francis] Buried His Communist Mentor.

Calling the pope "Bergoglio" - using his last name - suggests that Neumayr considers the papal seat vacant.

"Once a striking 19th-century church, Santa Cruz is now just a propaganda prop for Pope Francis’s gang of communist clerics. It is pitiful and puts me in mind of what a precocious teenager said to me the other day after I asked her what she thought of the pope: “He is so bad and ridiculous I don’t think he is the pope. Nothing he does is like what other popes have done.”

That is a common refrain in conservative circles here."

The Church of Rome is officially against socialism, but the pope ardently promotes it. The same fervor permeates many Roman Catholic institutions. Have the Lutheran clergy who sinuflected to Rome noticed this? Doubtless they have witty little comments to explain it away.

A successful meeting!

Pope Francis has such a way with words.

Area students help on mission trip

http://www.wdtimes.com/news/article_b6d4598e-4047-11e5-bafb-0bb1f468f9ee.html

WATERLOO -- During the week of June 22, 18 local students and three chaperones embarked on a mission trip to Mingo County, West Virginia. The event, organized by St. Paul's Lutheran Church, ELCA, was the largest trip the congregation had sent students on and contained a variety of individuals. Students from St. Paul's, St. John's Lutheran Church, WELS and Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish all of Waterloo and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, ELCA of Marshall participated.
The trip was the farthest traveled since the program began in 2010 with the participants spending a night in Columbus, Ohio on the way down and Champaign, Ill. on the way home.
While in West Virginia missionary work included: cleaning, painting, putting up siding and sharing meals with the families the group was serving. Students and chaperones also visited a local nursing home and worked with children at a kid's club, along with spending a couple of evenings learning about the mining wars of the 1920s and line dancing.

"It was great to see the youth working together and interacting with local residents. They really built a relationship with them throughout the time we were there. The youth expressed how much their eyes were opened through their experiences with the community in Williamson, W.V.," said chaperone Laura Crave.
"We worked with Zelma on painting her porch and cleaned her yard. She was 93 years old and loved to tell stories about her long life," said Austin Weber. "The members of St. Paul's have been generous in supporting our youth mission trips since 2010.
Support for the youth mission trips has been raised through individual donations, fundraisers within the congregation and fundraisers in the community. This year, the youth from St. Paul's invited several friends from other community congregations to join them, creating an extensive community outreach," said Rev. Robb Kosky.
YouthWorks, a group that organizes Mission Trips, including St. Paul's, generally charges between $250-$300 per person. St. Paul's has always paid for the adult chaperones from fundraising and families pay a deposit for each student. The other primary expense is transportation. This year there were some additional costs related to the distance traveled and the cost for the 2015 Mission Trip was approximately $9,200 or $512 per student. The trip could not have been made without the generous support of the congregation.

Individuals attending were chaperones; Arlene Schemm, St. Paul's; Crave, St. Paul's; Kosky, St. Paul's; Students: Logan Braunschweig, St. Paul's; Dawson Cole, St. Paul's; Lexi Duessler, St. Paul's; Tristin Duessler, St. Paul's; Brianna Farwell, St. Paul's; Laura Farwell, St. Paul's; Tyler Hargarten, St. John's; Cassandra Hollatz, St. Paul's; Christie Hollatz, St. Paul's; Cassidy Mattson, St. Paul's; Peter Miller, Holy Family; Bailey Stone, Holy Trinity; Hannah Stone, Holy Trinity; Morgan Stone, Holy Trinity; Wes Swarztrauber, Holy Family; Karley Tesmer, Holy Family; Austin Weber, St. Paul's; Cole Weber, St. Paul's.
Each WELS Synod President is worse than the one before,
because the laity and clergy will accept anything.

Brief ELCA Story - Three Congregations Close

 Narcissism worked well for Nadia.
She appointed a drag queen as the congregation's Minister of Fabulousness.

Eating supper as we speak just a couple of miles from Salem!  Something odd has happened with the ELCA in Johnson County lately.  Three congregations recently closed. Two had been really big until relatively recently with massive buildings, one unceremoniously torn down to make a city park, the other still forlornly sitting empty and for sale.  The third had a smaller but quite lovely building bought by the Roman Catholic diocese for a traditional "Latin mass" congregation that is absolutely PACKED for their numerous weekend and daily masses.

By the way, though a half-dozen malls in the metro area have vanished, Oak Park Mall is still open and thriving!  In the winter I usually go walking there several times a week.

Does Anyone Stop To Ask "Who Is Running This Madhouse?"

Matt the Catt

Long ago I watched a TV drama where all the dissenters in the military were put on border watch as punishment. One was alarmed that they enemy was drawing closer each day and wanted to alert the higher ups. No, he was told, just keep scanning the horizon.

I took that a final statement on the decline of a country. No one was listening before, so let them have their just desserts.

That sounds crazy and suicidal, but it is not unlike the collapse of the seminaries.

Grand Canyon University's seminary is less than 20 years old. They have:

  • 600 students in their seminary.
  • 2500 students in their entire College of Theology.

Fuller Seminary is as old as I am.
They have:

  • 705 full-time seminary students.
  • 2435 students in all their theology programs.
Here is the data I have on ELCA -

The Two Canadian Lutheran Seminaries Are Shrinking and Backing Away from Their Original Mission

"We could unite at one LCMS location and invite the CLC (sic) and ELDONA to join us - and still have room left, dollars saved."

WELS and Missouri have explained the sociological reasons for the shrinkage, no solace for their bleating masses. The synod leaders have not confessed their apostasy, switching from Justification by Faith in the early years (See The Path To Understanding Justification) and lying about the change to Objective Justification.

The Boomer generation has harvested the goods for itself and left behind a bitter harvest of weeds, brambles, and toxic fruit. They cannot explain Romans 4, which they used to cite with glee, but they know how to get even.

The far-sighted genius class of WELS-LCMS spent gazillians on seminary buildings while higher education was moving into online education. Now they have even more money-pits to dump insurance and maintenance money into - fewer but better seminary students each year.

A local education means a heavy load of tuition, to be paid through the wives working and enormous student loans. The male seminarian cannot easily move and get a decent job. The online seminaries allow a man to keep his job and housing while pursuing his education at  reasonable pace. Even though seminaries require far too much busy-work for an MDiv, an online MDiv can be earned as quickly as a local one.

Did I mention that student housing is a lucrative cash cow for schools? They get the building paid for - The Marvin Schwan Girls Dorm - and charge Arab sheikh prices for a little cell and bad food.

When Lutheran seminaries charged almost nothing for tuition and board, going to one was easy, right out of college. Now they are MBA-expensive with the potential of earning as much as a BA in Women's Studies or The Ecology of Culture. The Boomer DP will ashcan the recent graduate for any reason or no reason, but definitely not for championing OJ and Church Growth.

WELS has women "staff ministers" all over - guided by Larry Olson, DMin from Fuller Seminary. But there is no Church Growth in WELS, ask Steve Spencer's buddy Wayne Mueller. At least Wayne never went to print on "No cross-dressing in the WELS ministerium."

Some go to Mecca, others to Pasadena. Larry Hadji-Olson chose the better option, the rewarding one, because the road is paved with Fuller degrees, even for self-centered, arrogant dummies. Do not call him Professor Olson or Mr. Olson. He is Dr. Olson, DMin from Fuller Seminary. Then he will answer the questions of the poor, ignorant slob students.

LCMS-WELS pastors rushed to Fuller Seminary for a graduate degree in Calvinistic Enthusiasm. How many Calvinists and Baptists rushed off  to Lutheran seminaries? The non-reciprocity of the false teachers - add the Latin term to the Scaer Latin dictionary - at least it is relevant.

In 2010 - HYPOCRITE’S BALL: Woody Allen, Katie Couric, Chelsea Handler, George Stephanopolous Busted Partying At Epstein’s Mansion

Prince Andrew was locked in a serious conversation with Jeffrey Epstein, RIP.

The December 2, 2010, dinner was held in the mansion’s second-floor dining room. TV anchor Katie Couric, once the highest-paid female presenter in the US, sat alongside comedian Chelsea Handler, a close friend of Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston. Also there was George Stephanopoulos, a former White House communications director under President Bill Clinton turned £15 million-a-year ABC News host.
The soiree is believed to have also been attended by Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of the disgraced media tycoon Robert Maxwell and Epstein’s one-time girlfriend.

Chelsea Hubbel Clinton's exclusive wedding list included Epstein's procurer of young girls - G. Maxwell, daughter of a Mossad agent (according to legend) and perhaps one herself.

Why Did Bill Gates Fly On Epstein’s ‘Lolita Express’ After Pedophile’s Prison Stint?

Former Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates may not be able to escape Epstein-gate after all, after it was revealed last week that the billionaire traveled with Jeffrey Epstein on his infamous ‘Lolita Express’ Boeing 727 in 2013 – four years after Epstein served time for pedophilia. According to the Daily Mail, “Flight records reveal that Gates flew with Epstein from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to Palm Beach on March 1, 2013, one of the few flights that year where pilot Larry Viskoski recorded the name of a passenger.”
