So why does 2 Corinthians 13:14 not say the participation κοινωνια of the Holy Spirit? Hmm.
The Calvinists do not accept the Real Presence of Christ in Holy Communion, and avoid the word communion for that purpose. The ESV is a Calvinist translation, aimed at pleasing those who reject the sacraments and treat them as "ordinances."
Many in the LCMS and ELDONA reject the NIV but love the ESV. Some of them are very high church.
