Dear Pastor Jackson,
I had a near disaster last night. Coyotes chased and
panicked my sheep, but Ringo [farm dog] must have ferociously fought
them off. My ewes and lambs panicked, tearing and twisting
through my four foot high netting fence. One of my best
ewes was lying on her back all tangled up in the netting.
She was choking, so I quickly used my pliers to cut her
head out of the netting. I thought she was already dead,
but she came alive as I rolled her onto her chest. Three
new born lambs cried helplessly for their panicked
mother's, now scattered far to the other side of the
pasture. A cold steady rain and cold wind out of the North
made everything worse. I feverishly constructed a pen out
of four foot by eight foot wire panels to hold my newborn
lambs and very nervous and jumpy mothers. I failed to get
the now very weak lambs to be able to nurse their jittery
mothers, so I fled back to my house for some warm fresh
sheep milk. I raced back to the high pasture on my
4-wheeler with a bottle full of warm raw sheep milk. One
of the lambs was to weak to suck on the bottle. The other
lamb sucked enthusiastically and gained enough strength to
begin nursing on her jittery mother. The weak lamb was
going to die soon, so I scooped her up and put her inside
my coat and raced back to the house on my 4-wheeler. She
is pictured below curled up in a box I found for her. Soon
she warmed up and began taking a little warm fresh sheep
milk from her bottle. Soon her head was peaking over the
side of her box crying for more milk. Soon she curled up
and went to sleep, her belly full of warm fresh sheep
milk.
I looked at the clock and suddenly felt very tired.
It's already getting close to 1 AM. What a day! Then it
occurred to me that very similar 'coyote attacks' occur
in the church, panicking and scattering Christ's sheep.
Then the sheep hear the voice of Christ's INCORRUPTIBLE
Word in the King Bible:
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they
shall never perish, neither shall man pluck them out of
my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than
all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's
hand. I and my Father are one." John 10:27-30
In Christ,
