I found an article about Lutherans, having quite a bit in the opening but ending with the real news - the Lutheran pastor had a clever way to glide into the Vatican fold.
That suggested the bait and switch tactics used in so many situations, such as
"I just happened to walk in one day...."
or
"He was my best friend (or professor) and just had to try that!"
As one layman said, agreeing to me, "Everyone is selling! No teaching!"
