I posted my comment above because it is pathetic how the WELS on one hand will pretend to struggle against the wickedness in the world around them and all the while finance and provide support for the very thing they struggle against.

This case for instance. ELCA has worked long and hard, with matching funds from the fraternal insurance agency who attracts and ties Lutheran money and effort together, to promote the homosexual agenda. ELCA uses WELS money to do this and more (and the 'more' seems to have no boundaries in regards to blasphemy and perversion). When WELS is addressed for this error they say, "well if we didn't use the money someone else would", "When we use these matching funds it makes it so ELCA can't." Or they attack the one who asks:

Note that when asked about unionism in regard to Thrivent WELS responds they are not a religious organization. Truth is that the love of money draws the Lutheran Synods, Churches, Pastor's and laymen together. Romans 2:15-16, "Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

GJ - The justification for taking Thrivent money could be used with the Mafia or Hamas. Thrivent has established a pan-Lutheran church through its money-making activities. The only denominational boundaries are 5s, 10s, 20s, and 50s.

In return, congregations pander to Thrivent, producing ads for them in their newsletters and bulletins in exchange for a few dollars. Who gets the big grants? St. Mark's in Depere! Thrivent is simply buying leads. Pastors and congregations are selling them.
