Solafide,
Once again, I concur with your comment. I especially appreciated your previous post about MLC. I was there not too long ago and the same exact things you described are still going on and being defended or ignored. In fact one kid (pastor track) got a DUI last year and wasn't kicked out for it. And I don't wanna hear about any 8th Commandment since he was pulled over right on MLC property in front of everyone. Just this year, in fact, there was an issue with one of the professors. But since it was dealt with privately I don't feel it appropriate to reveal the name and situation.
Also, it is very true and active that they will tell you not to read Ichabod. They will tell whole classrooms full not to (not just individually). In fact, they plan things around Ichabod hahaha! Can you believe that? They actually keep Ichabod in mind when planning things that will be streamed over the internet. Now those are two classic examples of Ichabod-effect I'll say.

GJ - Two of the teens in my church in Sturgis were killed by drunk drivers. One was just recovering from his problems. The other was a champion swimmer and the delight of her family.
These WELS drunken drivers are endangering the lives of everyone on the road.
Someone arrested for DUI is likely a habitual drunk. The cops cannot be everywhere. Some alcoholics are binge drinkers. Some are stewed most of the time. We had a chaplain at our seminary who was three sheets to the wind at morning chapel. He had to be kept away from open flames.
I know of a WELS missionary, a WELS DP, and a WELS seminary professor being arrested for DUI - nothing happened from those cases, beyond a tap on the wrist. Sig Becker used to express amazement about the alcoholism and infidelity of the WELS pastors. Nothing has changed.
Notice that questioning WELS is cause for excommunication. Getting arrested for drunk driving is nothing. The Scriptures admonish us to watch out for false teachers and also to avoid excess drinking.
When people consider "sin" in WELS, it is clear that this is a dying, abusive sect. The students are not warned against excessive drinking, but against reading this insignificant blog.
Next they will keep the Book of Concord in a locked cabinet, with a MISLEADING! label on it.

It is human nature to over-indulge in something that is being kept from you.
I wonder if this would be such a problem if those over the age of 21 could keep some beer in their dorm room. Is there room for abuse? Sure, but I bet it cuts down on the "I have to go out and get smashed tonight, since I can't have even a single beer in my dorm room after class/work while doing my homework" behavior.
MLC saw increased compliance with the rules when they lessened the restrictions on closed/open dorms.
It is true that students are being warned away from reading this blog. Perhaps if they encouraged students to read the confessions with half the vigor they use to keep people off this blog, the WELS might get more competent called workers.

GJ - Drunks are not going to teach sobriety. Instead, they enjoy seeing others lose control.
Nor will those who hate the Confessions teach the Confessions. WELS is a lost cause. Too many tepid Lutherans have excused their lack of involvement in doctrinal matters.
