California Says - Finally! The Main Issue - The Bible

The king executed Tyndale for translating the Bible.
WELS excommunicated pastors for opposing the old NIV.
Will they do the same thing again, for Zondervan and Murdoch?

Finally! the most fundamental issue on which all other issues fall, is rising to the surface where it needs to be.

The Bible Translation Issue is the essence of the basis of all others destroying the organized church...not only Lutherans.

Re: WELS as well as other Lutherans, from where do (should) doctrines come? The Word of God. Until and unless there is a return to a commonly recognized, proven translation based on manuscript evidence used by Luther and other Reformation related translators, the floundering will continue and increase.

The Reformation launched translations in the language of the people and God opened doors where the world's ears were there to hear it.

The contemporary translations use, to one degree or another, manuscript evidence not discovered until after Luther, and the apostasy, confusion, break-down of organized church has paralleled the transition from near universal use of KJV to the hodge podge of contemporary translations with their never ending revisions of revisions.

The church consequently lost what it had when it could proclaim, "Thus saith the Lord"...Period! By jettisoning the the faithful KJV, the church has saddled itself with a smorgasbord of translations from which the menu of doctrine can be whatever suits the "constituency".

I would concur with Ray Klatt's observation "that the English translation that has been around the longest, is closest to Tyndale and Luther" has done a good job for 400 years. Why stay with poor substitutes, and even worse revisions of those poor substitutes? Like Ray Klatt I will stay with my trusted, time tested KJV. All other issues take descending priority after that.
