ICHABOD, THE GLORY HAS DEPARTED - explores the Age of Apostasy, predicted in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, to attack Objective Faithless Justification, Church Growth Clowns, and their ringmasters. The antidote to these poisons is trusting the efficacious Word in the Means of Grace. John 16:8. Isaiah 55:8ff. Romans 10. Most readers are WELS, LCMS, ELS, or ELCA. This blog also covers the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodoxy, and the Left-wing, National Council of Churches denominations.

Signal Intell from Fox Valley WELS. Topic - The CORE and St. Peter, Freedom, Wisconsin
A Christian leader should not pose with a coarse vulgarian. Katy - apologize to your fans! |
As I reported earlier, the Ski introduction movies have been dropped from The CORE websty. He is gone again - the second removal from gotocore.com. Would that be the left and the right foot of fellowship? One does not simply extend both feet.
Here is a new headline from The CORE's websty -
What can I expet (sic) when I visit The CORE?
You can expect bad spelling!
The usual YouTube video announcements, mostly about money-raising commercial events for St. Peter, are not posted yet. This is Memorial Day, so they may be delayed by various parties in the circuit.
St. Peter is still announcing Lenten news, and the recent newsletters are not only de-linked but erased.
The worship bulletins at St. Peter are all erased but one.

More Appreciation for Pastor Nathan Bickel
narrow-minded has left a new comment on your post "Appreciation for Pastor Nathan Bickel":
Thank you, Pastor Bickel, for your contributions. I never thought I would live to see the collapse of this country, but I'm now wondering. It is sad to see our Nobel Peace Prize-winning President, who voted several times in favor of infanticide as a Senator, now go on to dispose of the elderly through the inevitable rationing of health care. I hope I never have to give my mother or father the news that some bureaucratic panel has decided they're not worth the money.

Boomers - Face the Truth about America
Where's my Thrivent grant for working with ELCA and the United Nations? |
rlschultz has left a new comment on your post "Appreciation for Pastor Nathan Bickel":
"America is falling apart in every way possible".
I wish that more Baby Boomers could understand this. Many of them lack a historical perspective on what is happening right now. I live close to a coal fired power plant that just installed a very clean generating unit. Many embrace the latest high tech toys without knowing what it took to get there. We used to have a coal burning furnace in my childhood home. Even with the stoker, it was a dirty type of heat that was a lot of work. There was the shoveling of the coal and cleaning out the clinkers.
Yet, advances in scrubbing technology has made coal power generation very clean and cost effective. The advances have made the old energy sources better. But, we are told to embrace "green energy", like wind turbines. The cost of the turbines must be subsidized by government grants. Likewise, the same type of subsidy applies to ethanol, corn alcohol. This is an outgrowth of farm crop subsidies, the brain child of the FDR administration.
The same type of historical and critical analysis should be applied to Americanized Christianity. Recently, Ichabod posted an article about the decline of male singing in the churches. What Luther put back into the church, entertainment evangelism has taken away. It is very distressing to witness Baby Boomers latch on to the latest CG tactics like a barnacle to a ship bottom. A generation ago, the catechumens were drilled with the Gausewitz Catechism as if we were in Marine boot camp. When I look at the laity today, all that I can say is, "my people perish for a lack of knowledge". Most of what passes for Christianity today has changed sanctification to the sanctimonious. This would be yet another consequence of not preaching and teaching Justification by Faith alone. Both the quality and quantity of Christianity in this nation has declined precipitously. The Boomers need to stop fooling themselves.
***
GJ - I asked about a wind turbine at a retail store. "That is just for show. They are a waste of money."
The original Gausewitz, before it was bogged down with improvements from a bunch of addled pinheads, was simplicity itself - Luther's original catechism was first as the document to read. Second were the verses to show the Scriptural support for each doctrinal point. The new catechism is instant mashed potatoes for kids with attention deficit disorder, so they do not realize they are being fed Universalism.
That is probably why VP Paul Kuske went ballistic on the UOJ graduates being produced at the Sausage Factory. WELS changed doctrine without informing anyone, including the clergy. DP John Seifert disciplined Kuske in public by stripping him of his emeritus status - fairly silly, even by WELS standards, but significant.
The local paper in Appleton published several flattering stories about The CORE, but they have not asked why the star of the show was kicked out (albeit temporarily, if Deputy Doug Englebrecht has his way).
Appreciation for Pastor Nathan Bickel
Not long ago someone sent a nasty comment here about one of Pastor Bickel's posts, but Bickel's post was only linked here. I thought, "That is a fine commendation, given the source of the comment."
Pastor Bickel and I exchange quite a few communications. He has emphasized more of the political element in his two blogs. I have usually avoided that because apostasy alone is a big enough topic for me.
That does not mean I fail to appreciate what he offers. For example, we still do not know the actual father of President Obama or where he was born. I have looked over the evidence many times, and I remain baffled by the contradictions that are public knowledge, such as Obama's own book bio claiming Kenyan birth and conflicting stories about his Hawaiian birth - which hospital?
I believe crazy theories should be pursued, if only for the sake of learning more about the topic. My foundation for this assertion is that memorable day when the class laughed at me for talking about tectonic shifts in the earth. I was in seventh grade and I cited Superman comics as my source. The teacher could not suppress his mirth, but the issue remained - was it true or not? After all, we had a science book in that class, 1960, that claimed America would run out of coal in the 1950s.
Many decades later, my brother-in-law was studying tectonic shifts with a federal grant. He took special clocks on jets to measure differences in time. With a PhD in physical chemistry and a post-doc at MIT, he was not indulging in fantasies. I pointed out how his job was foreshadowed by a Superman comic. He was not surprised.
William Shatner changed the world.
America is falling apart in every way possible, and this catastrophic decline was preceded by an equivalent decline in the Christian Church - all denominations.
Citizens owe themselves a thorough study of the historical and current issues. Constitutional conservatives are well versed in these issues, while Leftists are welded to the common talking points defending the decline.
I keep Pastor Bickel's two blogs linked at all times. I also kelm some of his posts. He has had a fast start as a blogger.

Moral Matters
Memorial Day: Honoring the memory of fallen heroes
“Memorial Day” - Memorial Day previously called Decoration Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died while serving in the military of the United States. In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress and the date to observe the holiday was set as the last Monday in May.
“…..Today is the day we put aside to remember fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. It’s a day of thanks for the valor of others, a day to remember the splendor of America and those of her children who rest in this cemetery and others. It’s a day to be with the family and remember….. — Ronald Reagan - conservapedia.com/
A Fitting Way to Remember Our Fallen Heroes and To Honor Their Sacrifice
Honoring Fallen Veterans – We Can DO This - ”……In every town and city, in communities and neighborhoods across this great nation, there are cemeteries……..Many cemeteries have faced cutbacks on grounds crews or face financial shortages which reduce the care they can provide……
This is where we can help but before I get into that, allow me to relate a few examples of the disrepair……….. - thenationalpatriot.com/
