“Where God’s fountains of comfort flow.”

“You are today directed to God’s Word by God’s servant. You are told where God’s fountains of comfort flow. You are being pointed to the green pastures and the living waters of God’s Word. If you go to these fountains today, and find comfort and consolation, will you not go there after today also? Will you not more than ever before taste and see how good the Lord is? I hope you will do this. But if you will make the Word of God henceforth your daily study, it will bring you unspeakable blessings. It will increase and preserve your faith. It will give you hope. It will turn you from the allurements of the world to the one thing needful, to Christ and his righteousness. Is this not good? Is it not a mark of God’s love? With this before you, can you not find comfort in the abiding love of God? Can you not, though it be with streaming eyes, say: Nothing, I am certain, can turn God’s love away from me, and now I pray God, that this affliction may not turn my love away from him, but may lead me to cling to him with childlike confidence.

How To Promote the Biblical Doctrine of Luther - Write Reviews

Reviews, good and bad, add to the visibility of the books.
Here is where the Luther's Sermons can be found.

One person asked how to promote Luther's Biblical doctrine, which is best represented in his sermons.

I said, "Easy. Write reviews for each title. Most of them can be found here. Each review raises the visibility of the book on the social media and therefore on the search engines."

Another worthwhile project is writing reviews about Norma A. Boeckler's works, which are found here - which are in addition to the books she has illustrated for me.

Janie Sullivan is working with me to finish books for Amazon and Kindle.
The Luther's Sermons on Kindle will soon be free. Then the rest of the books I produce will be free on Kindle - all of them.

Roses for Memorial Day

I was not going to take flowers to the eye doctor's office,
but the Veterans Honor roses were in full bloom.

The new, young eye doctor brought my eye pressure down to an ideal level (two sets of drops daily). He thought my glaucoma would stay under control with drops. Other tests came back fine. He and the assistant were pleased that my ability to read very small print had improved with the drops (think TLH prayers). Both said, "That is not expected, but welcome."

Glaucoma testing involves more than the eye puff or the blue halo light. The vision field test is also very important. No one can feel or see glaucoma. The pressure destroys the eyes slowly.

This morning I was not going to cut roses, which I do for most medical visits. (One PA hates them, but she loves dogs, so we still like her.) I was walking out the door when I saw several Veterans Honor roses in full bloom.

I grabbed the conveniently located shears, a bud vase, and cut three. After all, yesterday was Memorial Day. Not only does this rose honor our military, but it is a perfect red, with great fragrance, and lasts forever in a vase. By the time I got to the office, the Town Car was filled with fragrance.

The office was pleased to get them, and people thought a little more about our veterans and what they have done for our country.

Tomorrow I will be pruning a lot of roses simply because they are blooming so fast. That wil energize them for more growth.

It may rain tonight. On another day like that, a reader talking on the phone said, "I know. Because it is going to rain, you are emptying the rain buckets and barrels." Someone reads these posts!

The Crepe Myrtle newbies are showing their red-green leaves, new growth, springing up like teenagers. Creation Gardeners know that drought tolerant plants still love the rain. Besides that, I would rather harbor roses the skeeters.

Dig a hole, add water, mulch, prune.
God will take care of the insects. Ignore blackspot.

Intrepid Lutheran - Justification by Faith "Is Not a Hill I Would Die On."
Ironic Choice of Words

Romans 4:23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Good Question - The Best Way To Order Luther's Sermons and Other Books

Dr. Jackson,

Congratulations on completing the Luther books.

What is the best way for our congregation to purchase a complete set (8 volumes) of Luther's Sermons, including the Gems in paperback form?  Should we go through Amazon or through you?  Let me know at your convenience.  It will be a great addition to our little library.

Answer

It is always best to order directly from me, because I get them at the author's price. One black and white volume is $20 retail on the Amazon website, but I get it for $5 or so.

Color volumes are $60 each on their website, $30 at the author's price.

All the sermons - 8 volumes, black and white, will be roughly $40 from me, plus $10 for the Gems in color.

I estimate the entire cost at $70 delivered. I can be more precise when I have all the prices, but that is close.

How to order? Send me an email and mail me a check. I will order them to be sent to that address or wherever designated. One person has already ordered 6 copies of volume 8.

email - greg.jackson.edlp@gmail.com
Address for check - 1104 Letha Drive, Springdale AR 72762
I also use PayPal, if that is convenient for you.

To send them - I fill out an author's price form and have them shipped to the address you list.

The 8 volume set varies wildly, from $50 to $400. They are very compact, which makes them unreadable for older eyes - presbyoptia.

PS - I consider it an enjoyable task - to post a Luther sermon to Ichabod and also to Facebook - each time we have a service. I use that sermon and Lenski as the basis for my sermon, quoting from and linking them.

John N. Lenker graduated from little Hamma Divinity School, no longer in existence, but his work lives on in Luther's Sermons.

Progress in Publishing. Volume 8 of Luther's Sermons Is Available. Gems Is Close.

All Kindle ebook versions will be free, starting with the Sermons and Gems.

Volume 8 of Luther's Sermons is done, color, black/white, plus the Kindle ebook.

Now Janie Sullivan is getting the Gems Mined from Luther's Sermons completed for Amazon and Kindle.

Discussions with Amazon/Kindle led me to decide on making all the Kindle editions free of charge. That will start with all the Sermons and the Gems. The rest of the titles will set as "free" over time.

Reasoning? Publishing is just part of the teaching done through Bethany Lutheran Church. Those who want research tools today would like them available on the computer and portable, from one device to another. Making them available for free will end any obstacles for college and seminary students who want a bigger library.

When I write Creation Gardening articles, I start with Kindle ebooks for quick quoting and citing. Kindle includes the citation with the material marked to copy and paste.

But Wait - There's More
I will create a free DropBox folder for pdf. The folder will be a little library of publications. Duplicating the titles has some advantages -

  1. It provides another copy.
  2. Finding something on a PDF is fast and easy.
  3. Some people may like easy access to some quotable material from a PDF.
  4. Thy Strong Word, like many of my books, has the complete citation with each quotation.
Alternative sources for free distribution will be considered, too. Lulu.com does that, and I have freebies there.

Copy and paste Luther, Melanchthon, and Chemnitz -
not Groeschel, Osteen, and Kelm.
