The Sausage Factory - Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary -
Proclaims Its Universalism

AC V has left a new comment on your post "AC V Suggests - Read the Tom Hardt Footnotes":

Paul O. Wendland, President of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary appeals for money to support Huberism at the seminary

In a brochure mailed to WELS constituents just in time for the 2011 Christmas season, Wendland asks the question:

"Who would think that a BABY born in a stable would save the world?"

Who would think?

Well, despite a sin-filled world telling us otherwise, we do. And the world scoffs at us. We have been called fools, zealots, extremists, and fanatics for believing that a baby born in a stable could save the world....

Because we know this good news, we want to share it....

That's why what we do as your seminary is so important. We prepare young men to proclaim this life-saving gospel in your congregations, in your mission fields, and to your neighbors. We prepare them to declare, "This is what our God has done" to a world that so desperately needs to hear it....

... please consider a gift in support of Christ's mission here at your seminary....

Sounds like Huberism to me. The message Jesus gave his disciples was one of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (cf. Luke 24:47). Nothing like that in Wendland's appeal for money.

GJ - How sad to have an institution devoted to Universalism while calling itself a beacon of Confessional Lutheranism. The faculty warns students against justification by faith quotations in their own materials.

DP Buchholz denies Universalism in WELS and yet also says exactly the same thing. Correct - Jesus redeemed the entire world, paying for its sins. Wrong - Jesus saved the entire world, which is now free from sin.

Thanks to the corrosive effects of UOJ, the leadership of the Olde Synodical Conference believes nothing and loves only money.

Brett Meyer has left a new comment on your post "The Sausage Factory - Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary ...":

Because the false doctrine of UOJ is a new and different gospel that is condemned by God, those who reject the truth and cling to UOJ are blinded by their own unbelief. Buchholz, Zarling, Wendland, Ski, Schroeder, Webber, Lillo, Schewe, Jeske and the rest, but by the grace of God, will continue to protect their egos, glory in their shame, worshiping the earthly Synod and destroying the eternal lives of men, women and chilren, clergy and laity alike.

Hochmuth is but a visual reminder of what these false teachers are doing to thousands of children spiritually.

Galations 1:6-9, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

48 Detroit parishes may close, including famed Assumption Grotto : News Headlines - Catholic Culture

48 Detroit parishes may close, including famed Assumption Grotto : News Headlines - Catholic Culture:

A lay-led panel of the Archdiocese of Detroit has recommended that Archbishop Allen Vigneron close 48 parishes, including the historic St. Florian Church in Hamtramck and Assumption Grotto, known nationwide for its reverent celebration of the Latin liturgy.

“Within five years, nine parishes are proposed to close,” according to the panel’s recommendations. “In addition to the above, 60 parishes are proposed to merge down to 21, resulting in 39 fewer parishes. Also during this time period, seven worship sites are proposed to close. Additionally, a number of the worship sites impacted by the merging process would likely close.”

The proposed closures would reduce the number of parishes to 232--down from 347 in 1966, 344 in 1980, 308 in 1990, and 270 today.

The panel recommended that “the parish and planning group should … begin in early 2012 to discuss the closing or merger of Assumption Grotto with a neighboring parish, to be implemented upon the retirement, reassignment or pastoral vacancy of the priest, if a replacement is not available to be assigned. Assumption Grotto must also develop in the first quarter of 2012 a realistic financial plan that addresses how the parish will pay outstanding debt.”

After considering the panel’s recommendations, Archbishop Allen Vigneron is expected to announce in February which parishes will close.

Four students dismissed from FAMU. They'll maybe take college correspondence courses as they sit in jail serving out their sentences for manslaughter:

Toomey has left a new comment on your post "The Age of Hypocrisy in Lutherdom And Other Dark P...":

I don't see why WELS members shouldn't ask the Wisconsin DA's office or the FBI to investigate everyone who might be involved. It certainly seems as though Hochmuth's Councillor is legally liable for failing to report this stuff. It's a little unclear how much others at WELS HQ may have known, but as you have mentioned, how could they NOT have known? I say subpoena them all.

GJ - They must have known, starting at the top. Note how few details have emerged. Exactly who met with Hochmuth and his wife? Exactly when? The synod and all in a supervisory capacity are liable, so  are the people involved in the failed therapy and their agency and their supervisors.

I predict massive arrests and publicity, or silence and secrecy and denial. That depends on who is being caught. Hochmuth may solo in this drama. SP Schroeder phoned one of my readers, who was sworn to secrecy. That is how this works.

There are powerful networks that protect the guilty from the consequences of their actions. Thanks to the abortion mentality in America, there is no regard for children. The "conservative" Lutherans are happy to work with ELCA and Thrivent, as long as the money flows.

WELS 2011 BORAM - Link for ELCA Pastor Bruce Foster

Our calling
The Communication Services Commission (CSC) exists to assist the Conference of Presidents in communicating WELS’ mission to the members of the synod. It is responsible for a clear and consistent communication of the synod’s mission from the synod’s national offices—and for exploring, supporting, and expediting innovative media usage, shared communication, and similar improvements on a continuing basis for WELS ministries and congregations. It is also responsible for reviewing and authorizing all new communications originating in the synod’s national offices.
Current staffing includes:
• one full-time communications director,
• one full-time managing editor for Forward in Christ,
• one full-time Web content manager,
• one full-time communications specialist, and
• one part-time communications project manager...

The major new initiative for the next biennium is to fully leverage WELS’ newly designed Web site as an outreach tool to more fully benefit all congregations. The goal is to secure $50,000 in grant money for each year of the next biennium, which will allow Communication Services to conduct a modest Internet campaign designed to attract the interest of the unchurched and drive them to www.wels.net. There, the intent is that they would be introduced to the gospel message and encouraged to contact local WELS congregations through the locator service on the Web site.

Until WELS can promote the Web site to the outside world, the site will continue to attract largely WELS visitors. Without such promotion, an outreach strategy is incomplete.  Long term, an opportunity exists to more clearly establish WELS as a beacon of confessional Lutheranism in the
public eye by hiring a staff person to concentrate on “external” communications—communications designed for audiences outside of our WELS fellowship. In particular, this person would seek to promote WELS and its mission in secular and other religious media by generating story ideas and issuing news releases on a regular basis. This person would also look for opportunities to promote the mission of WELS through cost-effective advertising campaigns.

Communication Services is convinced that a heightened awareness within the general public of the WELS identity and what WELS preaches and teaches stands to enhance the outreach efforts of every congregation. Until adequate support from the operating budget can be secured, this will remain an unmet opportunity.

GJ - WELS is already burning a fortune on Communications Services and needs even more to make a difference! Almost all media stories on the Net involve Hochmuth's arrest, so they achieved their goal in a twisted way.

WELS is following the ELCA corporate model of getting its version out in the media, with the excuse that this will provide evangelism contacts for local congregations. Nothing happens, except a lot of money is spent and the right people get paid for doing almost nothing. Congregations could do plenty on their own, with free blogs. I taught two business people how to blog and they had results right away, at no cost except a little labor.

Most congregational websites are nothing more than templates, communicating almost nothing.

VirtueOnline - News - Exclusives - Episcopal Presiding Bishop Replies to Critics on Abusive Priest Charges:

The presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church is defending her decision to allow a former Roman Catholic monk to become an Episcopal priest even after he admitted to sexual misconduct with a minor.

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori has been under increasing pressure to answer charges that she did not properly investigate the Rev. Bede Parry's past when she was bishop of Nevada in 2004.

She initially brushed off inquiries and then remained silent till this week when, under increasing pressure from VOL and canon law attorney A.S. Haley, she issued a statement arguing that she knew of only one incident when Parry, now 69, sought ordination as an Episcopal priest. She also said that Parry passed a background check and a psychological evaluation before he was ordained.

"The condition of his ordination, said Jefferts Schori, was that Parry was to be supervised by another priest and not permitted to work alone with children.

"I made the decision to receive him believing that he demonstrated repentance and amendment of life and that his current state did not represent a bar to his reception," she wrote in her official statement."

In a signed statement and newspaper interview this year, Parry admitted to several acts of sexual misconduct with young adults and teenagers while he was a Catholic monk in the 1970s and 1980s. "Frankly, those allegations, most of them are true," Parry told the Kansas City Star in June.

GJ - The criminal complaint against WELS Director of Communications Joel Hochmuth shows that people had prior knowledge of his addiction to homosexual child pornography. His current collection, found by the police, included grown men raping very young boys. There is no way to morph this into a traffic ticket, although Hochmuth's attorney has tried that approach already.

Prior counseling means prior knowledge. I am betting on Wisconsin Lutheran Child and Family Services, which means they violated the law on reporting child abuse. That also means the WELS leaders had prior knowledge and failed to report the crime.

The current series of crimes includes downloading hundreds of pictures and videos, swapping them with others (perhaps 400 other criminals) - using them at WELS headquarters and at home. The synod will be spending plenty of money dealing with its involvement in this crime.

The apostate leaders today are shameless in their efforts to hide behind repentance and restrictions. They imagine that their protestations of innocence will make people forget that they allowed known criminals to be sheltered by their denomination.

ELCA plunged into the worst phase of its activism after they lost a $40 million judgement for ordaining a known homosexual child abuser and predator.

The problem is that people soon forget the headlines. That makes it easy for leaders to say a bit later - "Oh, I don't know about that. I think you have your facts confused."

The laity and ministers in WELS have let previous crimes go down the memory hole:

  • DP Ed Werner convicted for molesting minor girls in his congregation.
  • Vicar Scott Zerbe convicted for having an affair with a minor girl while counseling her, using Fred Adrian's church facilities and computers.
  • ALA teacher Al Just convicted for murdering his wife, marrying his children's babysitter while still in prison.
  • Pastor William Tabor's mistress gunning down his wife, with Tabor moving to a new call!
  • Taking a man kicked out of the LCMS ministerium, dubbing him an "evangelism consultant" so they could make him a WELS pastor. Did WELS need another skirt-chaser and teen groper?
  • The Green Bay arrest of a homosexual predator - and many more episodes.
