Another Story WELS and LCMS Will Ignore - Because They Are Part of It

Voted out of office, PB Mark Hanson claps for the new PB Elizabeth Eaton.
ELCA is the dominant sect in the Thrivent funding of joint programs
for WELS-LCMS-ELCA.
Mark Jeske (WELS?) is on the Thrivent board,
passing out millions to his radical pals.

ELCA and The Episcopal Church observe World AIDS Day

11/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
CHICAGO (ELCA)—The leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and The Episcopal Church are commemorating World AIDS Day on Sunday, Dec. 1, by inviting "Episcopalians and Lutherans to consider increased congregational cooperation" in working toward a future without AIDS.

In their joint statement, The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA, and the Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church, encourage members saying, "We are convinced that churches can be significant leaders in education and awareness, welcome and care, advocacy and ultimately transformation of this disease's reach."

Noting that World AIDS Day falls on the first day of the Christian season of Advent, the bishops write that "like Advent, World AIDS Day invites us to consider the ways in which we live between the tension of the present, in all its brokenness, and hope and expectation for a future of transformation."

The bishops say "though the road to eradication of the pandemic around the world remains long, the signs of hope are clear" as they point to the AIDS initiative created in 2003 by then-President George W. Bush, renewed by the U.S. Congress in 2008 and reauthorized for another five years by Congress on Nov. 21.

The statement also highlights this country's comprehensive HIV/AIDS strategy and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as signs that "our nation's shared efforts to transform the face of HIV and AIDS in the United States offer much promise even as they invite further commitments to action."

The U.S. government's National HIV/AIDS Strategy was developed in 2010 with three primary goals: reducing new infections, increasing access to care and reducing HIV-related health disparities. The ACA will provide opportunities for access to health care and prevention and treatment for millions of Americans, especially those most at-risk for HIV transmission.

"In ways that did not seem possible ten years ago, we can now see through the brokenness of the present toward a future without AIDS. It would be a mistake, though, to treat this hope as a cause for inaction or decreased awareness to the urgency of the work that remains before us. The present continues to challenge us to respond in bold and courageous ways."

In encouraging members to respond to the challenges, the bishops emphasize the need for continued education about HIV and AIDS, citing polls that indicate "Americans increasingly see HIV as a manageable chronic infection rather than an urgent health crisis."

"This is leading to increased infection rates in many parts of the country, even as state funding for AIDS programs is declining in many places. It seems clear that significant community education remains an imperative," the bishops write.

Highlighting their work in global and domestic advocacy, the bishops point to resources that their respective churches have developed for their members. Information on the ELCA's strategy for HIV and AIDS can be found at http://www.ELCA.org/Our-Work/Relief-and-Development/HIV-AIDS-Ministry. The bishops also highlighted their respective church's advocacy efforts with regard to ending HIV and AIDS. Information on the ELCA's E-Advocacy Network is at http://www.ELCA.org/advocacy.

Eaton and Jefferts Schori urge members to consider ways to work together to bring hope and healing. "Our churches' full-communion relationship is more than ten years old, and local communities are now collaborating in varied and exciting ways. Can shared strategy toward AIDS-free communities be a part of this? Could congregations challenge themselves to see the National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS – observed annually beginning the first Sunday in March – as an opportunity to begin?"

The statement cites a passage from St. Paul's epistle to the Romans, which will be read in many congregations this coming First Sunday in Advent and World AIDS Day. "You know what time it is," St. Paul wrote. "Now [is] the moment for you to wake from sleep." The bishops' joint statement closes: "In the same way, let us recommit this World AIDS Day to activity and vigilance in order to hasten the coming of the transformation that is our future."

Ichabod Effect Trumped by the Lutheran Wall of Shame

Nothing I wrote got Ski's famous scrotum sermon erased from the church website, where he preached about oozing Jesus all over people, etc.

But the Facebook page, the Lutheran Wall of Shame, did the job - Page Not Found.

That shows the advantage of bold blogging instead of playing by the rules of the Jeske gang - rules they never apply to themselves.

It is a minor victory to remind people how disgraceful that non-sermon was. But small steps are always worthwhile.

I enjoy setting off a volley of irrelevant posts when I bring up a topic. The more they pretend not to care, the more they prove they have read the latest.

Classic Ichabod - A Few Posts about Paul McCain's Plagiarism - Since Todd Wilken Claims To Be in the Dark and Unaware

Wilken called justification by faith "Calvinism"
on his radio show.

GJ - Todd Wilken chose to mock Mark Driscoll for plagiarism. I realize Driscoll is an emergent church guru for WELS and the LCMS, but I thought Wilken (a McCain buddy) should start at home  - with the plagiarism on McCain's blog promoting Concordia Publishing House.

On Facebook Wilken has responded that there is no plagiarism, that he has seen no plagiarism. He finally admitted to not reading Ichabod. Using labels, it takes a few seconds to find this material all in one enormous lump.

"You have not proven it to me" is the ad ignoratiam fallacy.

Various writers on Facebook chimed in to change the subject away from McCain's plagiarism. If they want to use the usual ad hominem fallacies - fine - but how does not alter the dishonesty and the connection with CPH?

McCain's boss - Bruce Kintz - never denied the plagiarism - just the connection with CPH.

Readers can glance at Cyberbrethren and see if the blog is not closely connected to McCain's work and his place of employment - CPH. He is either copying from The Catholic Encyclopedia or selling CPH books most of the time.

Cyber-Pope Plagiarist - No Sources Listed by Paul McCain, Cheater

http://cyberbrethren.com/2013/06/05/commemoration-of-boniface-of-mainz-missionary-and-bishop/

The man who later became known as Saint Boniface was born around AD 670-680 at Crediton, Devonshire, England and baptized Winfrid or Wynfrith. Although he was educated, he became a monk — at that time a calling often avoided by people of learning or means. While still in England, he was ordained as a presbyter and was inspired by the example of others to become a missionary.
Upon receiving a papal commission in 719 to work in Germany, Winfrid devoted himself to starting, organizing, and reforming churches and monasteries in Hesse, Thuringia, and Bavaria. After becoming an archbishop, Boniface was assigned to the See of Mainz in 743. Ten years later he resigned his position to engage in mission work in the Netherlands....

Ten years later he resigned his position to engage in mission work in the Netherlands.

His time of activity overlapped the period in which Pippin the Younger and Charlemagne reigned and his work of converting the Saxons to Christianity was seen as a boon for expansion of Frankish rule. Yet Boniface never operated as a pawn of the kingdom of the left hand. Instead, he balanced alliances among the Carolingians, Bavarian rulers, and the papacy and often consecrated bishops who were already his followers in order to keep others from meddling in ecclesiastical affairs.

History isn't clear as to exactly when people began calling Winfrid "Boniface," Latin for "good deeds." However, his entire life gives ample testimony to events which would lead to this appellation.

Among his most famous exploits was the felling of Thor's Oak, an ancient tree believed sacred to the Nordic and Germanic god of thunder. Accounts from the period relate that when Thor (or Donar/Donner) didn't strike him dead with a lightning bolt, the locals agreed that the Christian God was supreme and agreed to be baptized. In a practical yet also symbolic gesture, Boniface used the wood of the fallen tree in the construction of a chapel in Fritzlar.

On June 5, 754, while awaiting a group of converts for confirmation, Boniface and his companions were murdered by a band of pagans in Friesland. The above picture is a commemorative statue in Dokkum, The Netherlands — a town near where he was martyred. Erected in 2004, it commemorated the 1250th anniversary of his death. Boniface is known as a great missionary and is sometimes called the "Apostle to the Germans." According to historian Christopher Dawson, no other Englishman had any greater influence upon Europe's history.

Justin Martyr Martyred Anew - Copycat from Concordia Publishing House

McCain's post on Justin Martyr is drawn from Roman Catholic sources.

McCain embedded the links, but he did not present the material to show his verbatim copying.

How does someone get away with this while collecting a salary as a CPH editor and promoting CPH books in that role?

The answer seems to be - he and Wilken were behind the campaign to elect their old buddy Matt Harrison.

Editors should be well rounded.
"I just got upvoted on Catholic Concerns!"

Does Anyone Do More Than Copy and Paste in a Blog?
Ask Pope Paul the Plagiarist

McCain is an overpaid plagiarist
who cannot spell or edit his own material.
That is why CPH is a warning label.

Read Pope Paul the Plagiarist's blog post here:

Now gaze in awe at all the copy and paste jobs on the same topic, here:

Why not quote Augustine himself, on justification by faith?

Pastor emeritus Nathan Bickel has left a new comment on your post "Does Anyone Do More Than Copy and Paste in a Blog?...":

Ichabod -

I went to McCain's website and viewed what you stated. No comment. But, be that as it may, I viewed the books he wishes to sell. I registered the following comment. Who knows if this CPH employee will publish it and follow my advice?

My submitted comment:

"You would be wise to retain the Chemnitz book. By God's grace (providing you read it); that book may help you. And, if you have read it; keep on reading it - providing you change your mind about getting rid of it."

Ichabod - do you think that McCain will publish my comment? And, if he does; do you think that he will take this emeritus pastor's advice?

GJ - Pastor Bickel, you have a better chance of becoming the quarterback for Alabama than getting published on Cybercistern.

Ha. I can do homonyms too. Brethren, cistern. I can spell like McCain.

Here is the irony - When people let someone else filter the Scripture through some human expert's assumptions, they become increasingly blind to the best texts.

Look at how many SynCons have Luther at their fingertips and exclaim, "Look, Uncle Marty (as DP Buchholz called the Reformer at a church meeting) supports my opinion."

They become increasingly blinded and hardened by the efficacy of the Word.

What do the UOJ fanatics abhor? They wage constant war against justification by faith.

What do they defend and excuse, or deny while knowing the truth?
  1. Praise bands.
  2. Bar ministry.
  3. Plagiarizing Groeschel, Swindoll, and other swine.
  4. Studying at Fuller, Willowcreek, Denver Seminary, Trinity Deerfield, and worse.
  5. Working with ELCA, Thrivent, and the United Nations.
  6. Sexual harassment in the parish.
  7. Clergy adultery.
  8. Murder.
  9. Alcoholism and DUIs.

Paul McCain Emerges from Blogger Time-Out To Display His Ryting Scills

No knowledge of justification,
no ability to write or edit -
just the man for Concordia Publishing House.

This is how a Concordia Publishing House editor writes and edits his own posts:

I’m downsizing my library of printed books and…here you go! I’m selling all these on eBay, for the sheer convenience factor. If you are interested, or nobody (sic! - mercy!) somebody who might be, here is a list of what’s up for sale right now on eBay.

What is this?
Answer - a warning label.

"Guys! Guys!
The Catholic Encyclopedia has an app!"

solafide (http://solafide.myopenid.com/) has left a new comment on your post "Paul McCain Emerges from Blogger Time-Out To Displ...":

Goodness, selling Chemnitz and Lenski in the same post?!

I am shocked! Shocked I tell you that I am not seeing Luther's complete works and a couple copies of the Book of Concord up there too... but I suppose that would mean he actually had to own them.

GJ - I saw one BoC. The funniest part--besides the atrocious writing error and failure to correct it--is his promise only to write about CPH and the church year. That is it. Nothing else. But the next post was this one, about selling his books.

Pope Paul's Blogicide - Another Casualty To Be Blamed on Ichabod?

From Paul McCain's late, great Cyberbrethren:

hiatus2copy
Dear friend, thank you for your long and encouraging support for me and this blog site. I have enjoyed bringing you the notes, news, messages and other bits of information and Roman Catholic propaganda that I have shared here over the years. But I have decided to take a hiatus from blogging. For how long? I don’t know, but it is going to be for a good long while.
I have several significant writing copy and paste projects I am going to be pursuing for the foreseeable future and I’d like to devote myself to those without further demands on my time, in addition to my regular work load at CPH. Thanks for understanding.
I know many of you have “tuned in” here for news and information about new resources from Concordia Publishing House, the Vatican, and Fatima. I am still going to continue to share that information, but from now on, my primary means of doing so is going to be from Concordia Publishing House’s Facebook page. You’ll find my posts there from now on.
I strongly encourage you, if you are not already, to add our Facebook page to your own and follow us there. When there is some new resource or something having to do with Concordia Publishing House that I know you will find interesting, I will post it there. So, again, be sure to like our page.

GJ - Has someone spotted Paul McCain or his boss apologizing for CPH-sponsored plagiarism?

I have not seen anything so far, but I may have missed it.

If you want to see the fruit of Universal Objective Justification, world absolution without faith, read McCain's blog while it still exists.
