Dr. Jackson,

As much as I hate to admit it, I think your web research skills are better than mine.

I was wondering if you might be able to answer a question.

In Wisconsin, in the early 1950's, there were a gruesome series of murders and grave robbings committed by a person named Ed Gein.

Ed Gein served as a source of inspiration for many fictional serial killers, such as Hannibal Lector and the main character in Hitchcock's Psycho.

It has always been indicated that one of the causes of Ed's insane development was because of his mother's (Augusta Gein) fanatical Lutheranism.

Of course my question is: What Lutheran Synod did the mother of serial killer Ed Gein (her name was Augusta Gein), belong to?

Hey, just because these murders took place in Wisconsin "don't mean a thang..."

I did some looking. There is a book about Ed Gein. His mother's maiden name would help. Most people lump all Lutherans together, so it is not your lack of skill but their lack of curiosity.

The BTK Killer is ELCA, and he was the council president. Some people were shocked at that. A WELS pastor and I said that he fit the profile of a council president, sorry to say.

Making a medallion out of Walther's face is quite Roman in practice. When the Pope John II went to visit RC dominated countries, I recall, they also sold his medallion.

Some Lutherans are now prototyping papal adoration, startin with Walther.

They think we must be bad because we are not so much a fan of Walther.

They get shocked that Ichabodians have no romantic view of Walther.

Ok, I'll bite....

There's actually a medallion for Walther?

And they actually had something called the "Walther League" ?

What exactly is "Camp Trinity", what was done there, and what is that Otten-fellows importance in all of this?

By the way, interesting background about Missouri and outlaws...

Many times you run into people who consider Jesse James a hero. Anyone who has done their historical research knows Jesse never faced an armed opponent in a classical wild west, man on man gun fight. He always killed from ambush. The term bush-whacker arose in this area of the country, meaning to kill from a hidden position like a sniper. Frankly, it makes more sense to do it that way. At best, one can say that Jesse was traumatized by the guerilla warfare along the Missouri and Kansas borders, and under the tutelage of such men as Bloody Bill Anderson became a true psycho killer.

Bonnie and Clyde...again, no heros there. A recent biography about the duo shows that Clyde was raped repeatedly during a stay in the state penal system before linking up with Bonnie after his release. He was actually a somewhat slightly built man. Bonnie was thought to have dabbled in prostitution in her youth. Again, no heros, at best they were brutalized, lower class indviduals who decided to take out their misery primarily on innocents.

Grumpy - a medallion for Walther - for sure, totally, seriously. Paul McCain was drumming up business for it. I greatly improved on the design by adding historical, accurate details.

Otten has run Camp Trinity for many years. His family has built it up with the help of volunteers. I have not seen it for many years.

Bonnie and Clyde received popular support because the banks wanted to be robbed. The insolvent banks gave details away so they would be robbed, then reported far more cash stolen so they could claim it on their insurance. Bank robbers read the newspapers and knew the bankers were helping them and lying about their losses.

The extent of the fraud is debatable. Of course, banks are not like that today. They care deeply about sound financial practices and telling the truth at all times.

I wasn't able to find Augusta Gein's Lutheran denomination. Her maiden name, though, is Lehrke.

She sounds Syn Conference to me.

hahahahaha.

In Aus, a CEO can get his company bankrupt and he gets fired but he is given millions of dollars so he can leave.

The CEO here operate like boxing champions. Win or Lose, they WIN!.

McCain never stated whether he carries his pistol into CPH, the Intl Center, or elsewhere:

Unanswered Letter to Pr. Paul McCain
This happened a couple of months ago. Pr. McCain never replied to my letter the three times I sent it to him -- once on his Cyberbrethren blog, once on the Luther Quest discussion board, and once via personal email. He has since added me as a friend on FaceBook and to his VDMA Firearms FB group page, but I've still not gotten a reply to my letter.

http://cyberbrethren.com/2011/04/12/my-vdma-1911-45-pistolan-homage-to-the-smalcaldic-league-and-the-lutheran-reformation/

Pr. Paul T. McCain: "...I do not intend to use this pistol as part of my ministry, unless somebody tries to shoot me while performing it."

Tim Schenks: "While performing it? Do you carry your pistol into church, CPH and the International Center?"

Pr. Paul T. McCain: "I adhere to all laws of the state of Missouri and any other state I am in. Now, why do you ask? I would note again, Tim, your propensity for *only* posting snarky remarks on my blog site. Why is that? I want an explanation."

Tim Schenks: "You have a way of bringing out the snark in me, Pr. McCain."

Pr. Paul T. McCain: "I’m sorry to hear that, Tim. Because of that, you are no longer welcome to comment on this blog site."
