One of the original parts of the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago was this attractive campus on Lake Michigan, sold off to become the Cubs Stadium. |
LSTC began with this Brutalist architecture, absorbing about six seminaries in all, now so broke they sold the property to the U. of Chicago and will lease land elsewhere. |
Needless to say, the ELCA-LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC-ELDONUTs all teach one thing - their institutional perfection. They are the best, so good that no one can approach them without taking off their sandals. I almost wrote "scandals!" But those have already been removed, covered up, denied, and synodically forgotten.
The only question remaining is how such noble, intellectual, marvels of egotism managed to drive their sects into the ground. They are selling their educational units to gather some loose change. Their seminaries are emptying - wondering when the next face-saving gesture will happen. ELCA is selling off seminary property and pretending the remainders, hooked up to a college, are the schools they once were.
The sects plan for the moment, not for eternity. If a few people balk and want to stop the next liquidation sale, they are frozen out and defamed for having an intelligent idea.
Here is their reasoning - "This is happening everywhere, so it has nothing to do with our abuse scandals, waste of money, protection of synod bloodlines, and chasing after fads."
