The Book of Concord proves too intrusive and restrictive for pastors who wish to "wing it" with rationalizations and falsehoods of their own making.

I've studied the Book of Concord but what does a picture of some guy have to do with the doctrines?

Not a lot.

Yet hose of us who recognize his picture (Chemnitz) were much cheered, for he was one of the true heros of the Book of Concord. He was one of the very great contributors to the Formula of Concord; essential teaching for all genuine Lutherans, but sadly, not taught at Fort Wayne Seminary (Missouri).

I cannot speak for the ELS/WELS seminaries on that point. Can anyone else ?
