I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

BBC ‘used licence cash to gag Jimmy Savile victims’
Published: 11 hrs ago

TWENTY Beeb staff who quit over sex harassment and bullying were gagged with licence payers’ cash, it was claimed yesterday.

Bosses even tried to stop them testifying at a probe — set up after the Jimmy Savile scandal to make it easier for BBC sex case victims to come forward.

The group was forced into silence after signing pay-off deals.

One who left recently raged: “Taxpayers’ money is being spent to stop me talking about discrimination against women in the BBC.” Another was axed 10 years ago after reporting bullying.

She recalled: “I’d shield staff from shouting and intimidation.”
On leaving, she was barred from raising it with anyone save one named relative.
Newsnight’s Liz MacKean, whose Savile exposé was binned, is also said to have been offered a gagging deal in a bid to axe her.

The 20 victims were finally allowed to talk to the probe — but not publicly.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for around 25 still at the Beeb said: “We’ve heard allegations of powerful men making sexual advances.”

The BBC said its probe was to “ensure we get things right”.
