GJ - Todd Wilken chose to mock Mark Driscoll for plagiarism. I realize Driscoll is an emergent church guru for WELS and the LCMS, but I thought Wilken (a McCain buddy) should start at home - with the plagiarism on McCain's blog promoting Concordia Publishing House.
On Facebook Wilken has responded that there is no plagiarism, that he has seen no plagiarism. He finally admitted to not reading Ichabod. Using labels, it takes a few seconds to find this material all in one enormous lump.
"You have not proven it to me" is the ad ignoratiam fallacy.
Various writers on Facebook chimed in to change the subject away from McCain's plagiarism. If they want to use the usual ad hominem fallacies - fine - but how does not alter the dishonesty and the connection with CPH?
McCain's boss - Bruce Kintz - never denied the plagiarism - just the connection with CPH.
Readers can glance at Cyberbrethren and see if the blog is not closely connected to McCain's work and his place of employment - CPH. He is either copying from The Catholic Encyclopedia or selling CPH books most of the time.

Upon receiving a papal commission in 719 to work in Germany, Winfrid devoted himself to starting, organizing, and reforming churches and monasteries in Hesse, Thuringia, and Bavaria. After becoming an archbishop, Boniface was assigned to the See of Mainz in 743. Ten years later he resigned his position to engage in mission work in the Netherlands.
His time of activity overlapped the period in which Pippin the Younger and Charlemagne reigned and his work of converting the Saxons to Christianity was seen as a boon for expansion of Frankish rule. Yet Boniface never operated as a pawn of the kingdom of the left hand. Instead, he balanced alliances among the Carolingians, Bavarian rulers, and the papacy and often consecrated bishops who were already his followers in order to keep others from meddling in ecclesiastical affairs.
History isn't clear as to exactly when people began calling Winfrid "Boniface," Latin for "good deeds." However, his entire life gives ample testimony to events which would lead to this appellation.
Among his most famous exploits was the felling of Thor's Oak, an ancient tree believed sacred to the Nordic and Germanic god of thunder. Accounts from the period relate that when Thor (or Donar/Donner) didn't strike him dead with a lightning bolt, the locals agreed that the Christian God was supreme and agreed to be baptized. In a practical yet also symbolic gesture, Boniface used the wood of the fallen tree in the construction of a chapel in Fritzlar.
On June 5, 754, while awaiting a group of converts for confirmation, Boniface and his companions were murdered by a band of pagans in Friesland. The above picture is a commemorative statue in Dokkum, The Netherlands — a town near where he was martyred. Erected in 2004, it commemorated the 1250th anniversary of his death. Boniface is known as a great missionary and is sometimes called the "Apostle to the Germans." According to historian Christopher Dawson, no other Englishman had any greater influence upon Europe's history.

Justin Martyr Martyred Anew - Copycat from Concordia Publishing House
McCain's post on Justin Martyr is drawn from Roman Catholic sources.
McCain embedded the links, but he did not present the material to show his verbatim copying.
How does someone get away with this while collecting a salary as a CPH editor and promoting CPH books in that role?
The answer seems to be - he and Wilken were behind the campaign to elect their old buddy Matt Harrison.

I went to McCain's website and viewed what you stated. No comment. But, be that as it may, I viewed the books he wishes to sell. I registered the following comment. Who knows if this CPH employee will publish it and follow my advice?

"You would be wise to retain the Chemnitz book. By God's grace (providing you read it); that book may help you. And, if you have read it; keep on reading it - providing you change your mind about getting rid of it."

Here is the irony - When people let someone else filter the Scripture through some human expert's assumptions, they become increasingly blind to the best texts.
Look at how many SynCons have Luther at their fingertips and exclaim, "Look, Uncle Marty (as DP Buchholz called the Reformer at a church meeting) supports my opinion."
They become increasingly blinded and hardened by the efficacy of the Word.
What do the UOJ fanatics abhor? They wage constant war against justification by faith.
What do they defend and excuse, or deny while knowing the truth?
- Praise bands.
- Bar ministry.
- Plagiarizing Groeschel, Swindoll, and other swine.

I am shocked! Shocked I tell you that I am not seeing Luther's complete works and a couple copies of the Book of Concord up there too... but I suppose that would mean he actually had to own them.

Pope Paul's Blogicide - Another Casualty To Be Blamed on Ichabod?

Dear friend, thank you for your long and encouraging support for me and this blog site. I have enjoyed bringing you the notes, news, messages and other bits of information and Roman Catholic propaganda that I have shared here over the years. But I have decided to take a hiatus from blogging. For how long? I don’t know, but it is going to be for a good long while.
I have several significant writing copy and paste projects I am going to be pursuing for the foreseeable future and I’d like to devote myself to those without further demands on my time, in addition to my regular work load at CPH. Thanks for understanding.
I know many of you have “tuned in” here for news and information about new resources from Concordia Publishing House, the Vatican, and Fatima. I am still going to continue to share that information, but from now on, my primary means of doing so is going to be from Concordia Publishing House’s Facebook page. You’ll find my posts there from now on.
I strongly encourage you, if you are not already, to add our Facebook page to your own and follow us there. When there is some new resource or something having to do with Concordia Publishing House that I know you will find interesting, I will post it there. So, again, be sure to like our page.
