Here's an insight about why CG is so popular.

People have noted that there have been some spectacular church failures following CG initiatives, however, this doesn't seem to quell enthusiasm for CG. The reason why is the same as why helmet-less cycling, BASE jumping and sky diving are popular.

When helmets are not mandatory, you get cycle enthusiasts talking about the thrill of cycling, with the wind blowing through their hair. When helmets are mandatory, cycling is not as popular because you get armies of amputees walking around warning against the dangers of cycling. (People who crash without helmets don't survive to go on to talk about the dangers of cycling.) Of course, you get people who draw the wrong conclusions and say that cycling sport is depressed due to mandatory helmet laws. The same holds true for BASE jumping and skydiving--there aren't many survivors around to talk about the downside of these sports.

With CG, a lot of money is spent on salaries, the buildings and the programs. So when CG churches fail, which they do often, the CG church ceases to exist. There's no one left to talk about dangers of CG, and since the building often doesn't even look like a church, there's no trace of a failed CG church left behind to warn others against the dangers of CG--like the perfect crime.

Bruce, you are correct. The LCA's Yorba Linda fiasco folded completely, and they were lavishly funded. So was the WELS Coral Something CG extravaganza, which is now a Roman Catholic Church. There are no rotting corpses left to serve as reminders, and no one is allowed to mention the obvious. If you seek a resume for Radloff and Valleskey, study Florida.

I strongly disagree that the Lutheran churches continue to follow CG doctrines, methods and practices because they don't see the carnage when one fails. I personally believe that they continue in it because they have placed all of their trust and faith in men and organizations, relegating Christ to an "also ran" in their hearts. They worship the created rather than the creator. The false man made doctrine of UOJ is but the pinnacle of their apostacy. Having destroyed the central article of Christ's doctrine, those who confess UOJ cannot stand and so neither will the rest of God's Word remain pure in their churches. They will run to the Antichrist for help, comfort and protection while telling themselves that it is only to allow them to continue preaching Christ, after all they say, the Catholic Church is still Christian.
