Kelming the Airport Story

Stelljes is part of the odious Kudu Don Patterson Network.

Here is one post on the hoax story.

Snopes has another version of the hoax.

Church and Changers are always borrowing sentimental mush. Parlow and Limmer actually cloned an entire email from their hero, Bill Hybels at Willow Creek Community Church.

Now I can handle the apostasy of Kelm and Parlow. Parlow has more foe's than you can shake-a-stick-at! Pastor Jackson's blog has been very kind to Parlow. GJ, Church Lady, and others have had to keep some things in confidence.(yet it is not that secretive and is obtainable)

When younger pastors such as Stelljes follow the lead of Kelm, it stops being funny. This is sad and you have to pray for Stelljes. These neo-othodox jokers over fifty know better! I'll admit that I had my own reservations about how odious some of these in the "network" really deserve the name. I try to give credit where credit is due, but when the pastors do this Church Lady cannot help you.

Somebody forwarded this sermon to Pastor GJ. Correct me if I am wrong, but my guess would be that this issue is being looked into. Lets keep the comments serious.(save your jokes for Ski and Jeske) When the leadership acts like clowns, younger pastors will think that it is "OK" to follow the same cues. Will WELS take the Missouri Compromise? For now I will stay tuned to this story.

Definition of WELS Compromise: to combine the qualities of good doctrine with the qualities of bad doctrine. synonym-liberalism/neo-orhodoxy

Many things get passed around among the pastors. You might call it a pastor-round, except the circles are rather small and have wavy lines. Someone gave me the link. I cannot remember the name at the moment. Maybe it will come to me. This blog has 1/3 million pages read per year, so a few more people read this.

People like Kelm, Parlow, Limmer have been rewarded for plagiarizing. No one does anything. The Internet makes it easy to spot and to expose. However, the Net is just a tool. It does not cure spinelessness.

While phony and insincere, the hoax story makes for a more interesting sermon than listening to the pastor talk about the countless hours he spends at home with his wife and children. I know he needs to get out more and experience life more, but he is too busy like most pastors.

I'm not seeing the issue here. He isn't restating an e-mail urban legend. He's recounting something that happened to him. There is no mention of a little girl (the substance of the urban legend), just people clapping for soldiers. Apparently this is a common occurrence in the Atlanta Airport. So common that Anheuser Busch made a TV commercial about it.

Or do you find issue with something else in this sermon? I'm missing that too. It was a very fine message for Palm Sunday.

In response to luetkemd:

Possibly? Remember, Pastor GJ received the link from another big-grown-up.(aka another pastor)

More than one person noticed the similarity of the Stelljes version to the Internet hoax. It was told as if it happened to someone else and sounded borrowed.

My wife is famous for going up to soldiers and thanking each one of them, something I also do when teaching online classes.

The issue? Easy. 1.) The people "commended" Jesus for what He was going to do later that week? WRONG! These are the same folks from Galilee who wanted Him to become their "Bread-King!" They thought He was going to do lots of miracles for them and be the kind of King they always wanted. They - like the natives of Jerusalem - got very angry, depressed, scared, etc... when He was arrested and killed. They most certainly were not hailing Him for His coming Passion. Duh! 2.) Just as Good Friday is not a "funeral" for Jesus, Palm Sunday is not a "eulogy" for Him either. Sorry, but this guy fails as a Confessional theologian and preacher. He belongs in the ELCA!

Thank you douglas1750. That is how I understood this in the Martin Franzman Volume.(Big green books in church library) The stuff I only thought I knew until I had to study lessons to teach Sunday School! OH, and Pastor Jackson, has been a tremendous help as well. I also thank my own pastor, who always says, "We can't make the Bible say something that is doesn't say."(if it is not found in Scripture...etc.)
