Those with a mild curiosity about American Lutheran history realize that Bishop Martin Stephan was a serial adulterer who surrounded himself with willing females. The police and church officials knew all about his escapades in Dresden. Stephan had no career left when he took his brain-bleached followers to America, leaving his dying wife and children behind, but careful to take his sex partners with him.
CFW Walther participated eagerly in this charade, serving as the enforcer for Stephan's edicts of punishments against any who questioned his word. Called a fox, Walther awaited his moment and stuck from St. Louis, when an outbreak of syphilis among the girlfriends imperiled all the clergy at once. Their Pietistic bishop must have earned an STD in the brothels of Dresden.
Walther organized the riot against Stephan, threatened the man's life via his subordinates, took away the bishop's land, robbed him of his gold, library, and possessions, and had him kidnapped and left to die in Illinois. Perhaps no one wanted to translate Walther's Pastoral Theology for a century because too many would think it was a joke book.
Walther and his gang were not done with Stephan. They excused their criminal neglect of the women and criminal actions against the bishop by leaving behind a pile of lies, which are still being told in Perryville, where Stephan took his harem and foolish followers. LCMS history is an accumulation of rubbish, always aimed at sanctifying Walther and vilifying anyone close to the truth about the sex cult.
