My Secret Medicinal Weight Loss Soup

Those who want to lower their blood pressure, A1C, and weight might enjoy this, based on Dr. Joel Fuhrman's suggestions and results.

The idea is to use chickpeas or another bean, add various vegetables, plus walnuts or almonds.

  • Two-quart sauce pan with glass lid, gas oven.
  • I start with heating up water because that will speed up warming the mostly frozen vegetables.
  • Green-red peppers and onions, frozen.
  • Sweet peas, frozen.
  • Mushrooms, frozen.
  • One can of rinsed chickpeas, washed to remove salt and that icky can syrup.
  • 1/3 can of Hunt's tomato paste.
  • One handful of walnuts.
  • Contains 1 quart of the mix, easily eaten, or half that with a large supply of baby spinach.
Chickpeas are very cheap yet loaded with protein and all kinds of nutrition. Peppers and onions are delicious and also rainbow for the often-over-looked nutrition. Sweet peas taste great and add to the mix. Tomato paste is good for the eyes and very inexpensive. It adds a lot of flavor to the final concoction. Walnuts (and almonds) remove bad cholesterol from the body, even combined with ice cream.

Beans are basic, and many vegetables can be mixed with them, canned or frozen.
