"Am I a Solder of the Cross"
by Isaac Watts, 1674-1748
1. Am I a solder of the Cross,
A foll'wer of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own
His cause Or blush to speak His name?2. Must I be carried to the skies
On flow'ry beds of ease
While others fought to win the prize
And sailed thro' bloody seas?

“You MUST examine everything in light of scripture and be convinced for yourself what scripture is saying before you have any business establishing a belief. We and everyone else who teaches are responsible for what they teach, and will be judged for it, But you and only you are responsible for what YOU BELIEVE. Your and only your salvation depends on what YOU believe and act upon. If your beliefs are correct according to scripture, and you are willing to be guided solely by scripture you will be able to have a relationship to God that will not allow you to be deceived. But - if your beliefs do not line up with scripture, you are deceived already.”

Properly managed the revenue from coffee and popcorn sales can soon provide the financial support the synod wants. Then visitors and members can attend without feeling obliged to make an offering. This caters to the feeling-needs of the parishioners.
How dopey. I am sure I get better coffee and popcorn at home.
