| More accurate: grown men were raping very young boys in the photos and videos found at WELS headquarters. The photos and videos number from hundreds to over a thousand, depending on the news source. |
Brett Meyer has left a new comment on your post "Who Is in Charge of the WELS Office Computer Netwo...":
Here is a website that provides location, photos and conviction information for every registered sex offender. Good to know who lives on your street.

Also, now that Hochmuth, in the throws of personal conviction over his sin of having and distributing man/boy rape video and photos, has pleaded not guilty, there should be extensive investigation and disclosure regarding who he was receiving and sharing this material with - internal and external to (W)ELS. Material which may not have been exposed had he pleaded no contest to the charges during the preliminary hearing.

GJ - Before this story broke, I posted that WELS had a Penn State problem.
The same problem continues, as anyone can see. SP Schroeder announced Hochmuth's repentance and forgiveness (forgetting his UOJ catechism), but Hochmuth pleaded not guilty. Before that, his pricey lawyer argued this was a case of adult pornography, which would NOT have caused the FBI and police to raid his home and the WELS Love Shack.
Meanwhile, Tim Glende and David Becker have commended WELS for the spin on the story, which Otten spiked.
Do you love your children? Keep them out of WELS.

Penn State repercussions come to Wisconsin. State Governor Walker signs bill saying that U. of Wi employees must now report child abuse. Previously, it was only other state employees where the requirement was mandatory by law, but somehow the UW system got out of being covered under that older bill:

The new National Defense Authorization Act, that establishes the United States as a "Battlefield" and allows warrantless arrests and indefinite detention of United States citizens in international detention centers, initially repealed the U.S. Military's ban on Sodomy and Bestiality (article 125 of the UCMJ).

The Senate approved the removal of the ban, "McClusky also credited public outrage directed at members of the Senate--who had voted 93-7 less than two weeks ago to repeal Article 125." http://cnsnews.com/news/article/defense-bill-will-not-include-provision-legalizing-sodomy-bestiality-military-0
This may have been an attempt to deflect attention away from the Indefinite Detention portions of the bill. At the same time reflects the direction of this country, faux-Lutherans (Huberites) included.
Will see what happens when Obama signs the bill.
The "not guilty" plea is misleading. This is relatively standard procedure because the fact is, the prosecution has not presented its case in its entirety. That is, Hochmuth hasn't even seen all the charges against him because the prosecution is still building its case. Why would anyone plead guilty to charges you haven't even seen? "Innocent until proven guilty..." The prosecution won't "prove" anything until the trial phase; they don't do that at a preliminary hearing.
All that a "not guilty" plea does is move the process along. Now it goes out of the county court to the district level.
This will be a trial (probably no jury either) according to WI state law, and judges actually have very little leeway when it comes to Class D felonies of this type.
Obviously he's not professing innocence... since he told the police where to find more of the stuff.
As for the network -- correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a computer can be "invisible" to an administrator if a person is not logged into the network (only using the computer as a workstation). Internet activity can always be traced. But I honestly don't know if an administrator can actually see files on a flashdrive, esp. if that computer is not logged on to network. I don't know that for sure though.
The lawyer speaks for the client, and that attorney told the public, the court, that this was just an adult pornography case that requires counseling.
That contradicts the supposed contrition alleged by SP Schroeder.
Your assumption, KC, is based upon Joel using the files on a computer not hooked up to the synod office network. The facts are not exactly clear.
The leaders of the synod and the Chief Technology Officer have a responsibility to the public to supervise the employees.
Schroeder seems more energetic in spiking Christian News stories than minding the store. Otten is not in his synod, not his responsibility. Hochmuth was, and everyone failed in that regard.
More facts would be appreciated. Caught before? When? Counseled before? By whom? Why was he not already a registered sex offender?
I won't comment regarding this case, but based on past experience with the WELS, once you have repented and received forgiveness, you are considered innocent. If you still have a bad feeling about what you did, you could still be sinning because you haven't fully accepted the forgiveness freely given.
My wife once got into it with a pastor about a guy who cheated on his wife more than once. The wife finally divorced him. The guy eventually wanted to get married again. My wife took issue because the pastor was going to marry them. She was rebuked because he had been forgiven. That may be so, but the Bible speaks differently on these matters.
