Steadfast Lutherans » More on the Preus Era — Waldo Werning and David Settje review Burkee’s Book:

Jack Preus did a lot to get Chemnitz published in English and wrote a biography of the Concordist.

Robert Preus was respected by all conservative Protestants,
but hated by liberal Lutherans.

Too late to tell the atheist Christopher Hitchens, who just died, but it turns out that scientists who say the chimp and humans have about 99% the same DNA are about 12% off, and that's even after excluding large chunks of DNA in the money genome that have no match at all in the human genome:

http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/arj/v4/n1/blastin/

excluding data for the large amount of chimp sequence that did not align, a very conservative estimate of human-chimp DNA similarity genome-wide is 86–89%. Results from this study unequivocally indicate that the human and chimpanzee genomes are at least 10–12% less identical than is commonly claimed. These results are more clearly in line with the large anatomical and behavioral differences observed between human and chimp.

I glanced at the blog post. I am again quickly struck that there are more historical theologians in the LC-MS than there are exegetical ones.

No wonder, UOJ doctrine flourishes in that denomination.
