RAGAMUFFIN SPIRITUALITY WITH BRENNAN MANNING : Apprising Ministries:

Now consider that ol’ Ignatius of Loyola founded the Jesuits, which were kind of a spiritual Gestapo of the Counter Reformation; in other words they were against it, k. As was Teresa of Avila and her duped disciple John of the Cross who are heretical heroes to “Brother” Foster. O, by the way, have you ever looked into the Quaker view of the Reformation? Their founder George Fox, who tells us he had direct revelation from God, throughly repudiated Sola Scriptura. I mean c’mon, who needs Scripture when you’re “centering down” to chat with the Lord himself, eh. But I digress.
Ok, so as I asked before: If the Roman Catholic Church was deemed apostate during the Protestant Reformation, and it was; and if it hasn’t changed one iota in any of the dogma of demons deemed unBiblical by the Reformers, and it hasn’t; do you suppose it makes any sense whatsoever for Protestant evangelical Christians to now return to practices taught by apostate Roman Catholic monks and monkettes who vigorously and quite specifically opposed the very same doctrines you at least give lip service to believing?
O But Tell Us Another Bedtime Story, Please “Brother” Manning
As yet another example of the grave danger of spiritual deception for those who persist in CSM’s rebellion against the final authority of God’s Word in favor of personal, highly subjective “experience,” in Reflections for Ragamuffins (RfR) by Brennan Manning the daily devotion for May 8 is based on his lovely lament concerning Isaiah 53. O but of course, first using a methodology so often employed by the Emergent Church, he begins by taking a shot at those of us who adhere to Sola Scriptura as he whines about “how difficult it is to receive anyone who has all the answers.”

Manning’s personal website leaves no doubt that he is a mystic [4] and my friend Mike Gendron ofProclaiming the Gospel Ministries, who has personally spoken with Brennan Manning, further fills us in through his post Beware of Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing:
Consider Brennan Manning, an inactive Roman Catholic priest, who has some obvious characteristics of a “wolf,” yet goes mostly undetected. In the last ten years, he has become a popular speaker in many “evangelical” churches. Manning was ordained to the Franciscan priesthood after graduating from St. Francis Seminary in 1963. Later he was theology instructor at the University of Steubenville (a Catholic seminary and catalyst for Mary to be named co-redeemer). After being treated for alcoholism and leaving the Franciscan Order in 1982, he married Roslyn Ann Walker. The marriage has since ended in divorce but his popularity as a writer and speaker continues to grow despite his proclamation of “another” gospel…
As with many such teachers who gain popularity by tickling ears, Manning overemphasizes the love and grace of God while ignoring His attributes of justice, righteousness and holiness. He teaches that Jesus has redeemed all of mankind. His “good news” is that everyone is already saved. Among those Manning believes he will see in heaven is “the sexually abused teen molested by his father and now selling his body on the street, who, as he falls asleep each night after his last ‘trick,’ whispers the name of the unknown God.” Manning’s theology opposes God’s word again and again… (Online source)

The Danger of Grace Without Truth
Andy Comiskey
The speaker, Brennan Manning, was impressive. I had read his books on grace and healing, and attended his meetings that my church had sponsored. Still, I felt uneasy. So much love, I thought. But what about the clear word to lay aside childish things, to take hold of the greater, truer aspects of one’s identity in Christ? Agreed—God embraces us in our weakness. But in our wickedness? I wondered about his take on sexual purity, especially on homosexuality.…
I met with Manning for lunch to pursue these questions. He appeared genuinely offended when I expressed my concerns over his ambiguous references to homosexuality in his writings. During our uneasy meal, he advocated for committed gay couples; he also challenged my commitment to a biblical sexual ethic--no sex with either gender outside of the heterosexual marital covenant—as narrow and uninformed. I shared with him about Desert Stream's commitment to providing safe and powerful opportunities in the church for the transformation of the homosexual. My assistant Mark Pertuit and I both shared about our own healing journeys. Manning dismissed our offering on the grounds that I was not enough of a moral theologian to be taken seriously on the issue.

I was going to write something angry and full of bile. But I realized that you are probably an independent fundie and just being you is all the punishment any human can handle.
