Three Common Stories - Three Different DPs

Here we are, waiting to find out about Ski, Glende, The CORE, and Fox Valley WELS.

Someone told me about another impasse with a different District President, a different pastor.

I said, "This happened 30 years ago in Columbus with a third DP."

I also compared it to the Church of Rome, where they tolerate everything among the clergy except criticizing Holy Mother Church.

A criminal RC priest is a "son of the Church" above all other considerations. A Roman Catholic bishop who protects a criminal priest is praised for his actions, simply because the perpetrator is "a son of the Church." Therefore, the bishop is extolled by all the rest for his protective behavior.

What did Pope John Paul II do with the worst cardinals and associates involved in cover-ups and abuse of boys? He rewarded them. The Europeans dismissed the American scandals as a Yankee hang-up, even though they knew it was happening in one country after another.

WELS knows that the era of instant reporting dooms its efforts to cover up felonies.

I figure that Church and Change is showing its claws and fangs now, protecting one of their own. It is unprecedented for a synod president to step in and deal with congregational matters, but Schroeder is the one who funded Ski and Glende, who brag about having a $1 million plus budget and planning to build more space. They must sell a lot of chocolate and pizza.

I wonder how many WELS missions get enormous grants while serious allegations about the clergy are ignored.

The lesson in WELS is clear - do anything you want as long as you belong to Church and Change.

Joel has left a new comment on your post "Three Common Stories - Three Different DPs":

Just a little confused. What, exactly, does the Marlboro graphic at the top of the article have to do with the contents of this posting?

Maybe the humor is just too "sophisticated" for me.

GJ - Because the ad is funny. Many graphics are irrelevant but funny.
