the big idea:

Those who are familiar with today’s science fiction have probably heard of the “butterfly effect.” It’s a phenomenon that is believed will occur when someone goes back in time and changes something in the past. The change will cause a ripple effect into the future causing a whole new reality.

Easter is not science fiction. Easter is the real deal. Jesus really rose from the dead. And like a butterfly effect, when Jesus stepped out of the grave alive some two thousand years ago, he changed history forever. More importantly, he changed your life and mine in some very profound and powerful ways. This Easter season we will take a look at how Jesus’ resurrection has changed our lives forever.

My anonymous source from an anonymous state claims that these same sermons have been given in La Porte, Indiana; Las Vegas; Panama City; and Sure Foundation, New York. The citations are poor, so I copied and pasted what I could find above.

Deputy Doug Engelbrecht is right - everyone in WELS is plagiarizing the Enthusiasts. There may be some hold-outs, but they will die or retire soon enough.

Give the Sausage Factory credit for turning out identical parsons. We cannot tell them apart or distinguish one sermon from another.

narrow-minded has left a new comment on your post "Thou Shalt Not Steal - WELS":

Since LaPorte, IN, is not far from my home, and my maternal ancestors hail from LaPorte County, I looked to see if there is a WELS parish in LaPorte. One thing I have noticed is that most "Lutheran" parishes will usually prominently state denominational affiliation on their websites. WELS parishes, on the other hand, are often shy about this. It often takes a little digging to find out if a "Lutheran" parish is WELS-affiliated.

Here it is: http://bslclaporte.org

Following are a few quotes from their website:

1."Worship is an important part of our life. In worship we are refreshed and renewed by the Word of God and his pronouncement of forgiveness for us. We join together in order to offer words and songs of thanks and praise to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ. We are nourished as we apply his Word to our lives. We are encouraged as we gather with others." [Notice that there is no mention of the Sacraments and that we are nourished by applying the Word to our lives. I thought we were nourished by hearing the Word in Faith and receiving the Sacraments. Our worship is a response to receiving the Means of Grace. While I will cut them some slack on the first two sentences, they should have quit there]

2. "We will strengthen our faith and trust in Jesus through formal Bible Studies, informal group studies [Small Group Alert!], and personal Bible Study."

3. "These are exciting times for mission work all over the world and there are so many ways that we can 'get in' on what’s happening. Every Christian needs to find a way to catch the wave and take advantage of the opportunities out there to bring Jesus to people who are hungry and thirsty for Him." [Rick Warren?]

GJ - There is a consistent pattern of copy and paste. For those who are new to plagiarism research, simply mark one sentence (or the end of one sentence and the start of another), copy it (control -c) and paste it (control-v) into the Google search window. Hit enter.

The bolded words are the exact matches to the original search. If you find the main site for Groeschel, where all his series are listed, you can often find the match there, along with identical graphics, texts, and outlines - even a catchy little video introduction. Anyone can use these after signing the license from Groeschel. Yes, ministers sign up to be Groeschel zombies.

I know WELS pastors copy from Groeschel, Rick Warren, and Andy Stanley. For decades, Kelm and Valleskey got away the same thing. WELS Perish Services is little more than an extension of Fuller Seminary and Trinity Divinity in Deerfield (where Bruce Becker took 5 years to get a drive-by DMin).
